Season 10, Episode 04 'Lunacy': After famous astronaut Marga Janssen’s corpse is found afloat in the waters of Battery Park, Detectives Elliot Stabler and Olivia Benson initially believe the murder is linked to a string of serial rapes. Upon further investigation, this theory is proven false when their suspect’s alibi checks out. At a dead end, Detective Stabler turns to his old mentor and former colleague of Janssen’s, NASA astronaut Dick Finley to shed some light on the case. Finley’s advice exposes several more suspects, but possibly takes the detectives further from the truth.

Colonel Finley was like a father to Elliot. Hell, he was the closest thing to a father that Elliot ever had. To find out that the man who he looked up to so much, heck, he named his firstborn son after, is a liar and a murderer?? I don't even wanna know how Elliot was able to sleep that night.

James Brolin was a great guest star. This episode was sad! Elliot looked up to Colonel Richard Finley and even named his son after him. I also enjoyed Elliot’s discomfort at him wanting to hook up with Olivia. 😂 Season 10, episode 4 “Lunacy”
