The latest Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film, Mutant Mayhem, was an incredibly fresh, young take on the TMNT franchise.. but in 2007 there was already a CG Ninja Turtles film that captivated audiences. But.. is it as good as we remember? Is there a reason not many people talk about it? Time to find out!

  • Interesting fact, in Leo's prequel comic to this movie, He actually kills a whole ship's full crew of human traffickers. This proves Leo canonically did kill those guys in the jungle and he will kill anyone if pushed to that point. Leo is also my favorite turtle
  • The Leo vs Raph chase scene/fight is one of the greatest moments in TMNT history
  • The reason that Mikey and Donnie didn’t have much to do in this movie is because they were saving both for the cancelled sequels. The second film was planned to be a Michelangelo centric story featuring the return of shredder, and the third and final film was to be centered around Donatello with Krang as the villain.
  • This film holds a special place in my heart being my introduction to the franchise. It’s not a perfect film at all but I still love what they did in it. Tho it does really feel like a sequel to the original 90s trilogy.
  • The 2007 TMNT movie is criminally underrated at its finest. The final scene where Mikey sneezes after the death of redeemed Max Winters will always be funny.

What I find interesting is this movie was originally meant to be the first in a trilogy, hence why Karai teases a sequel. That's also why Mikey and Donnie don't have much to do bc this first movie was about Raph and Leo's arcs, and the second and third movies were gonna focus on Donnie and Mikey respectively. Shame that never happened honestly.

i loved this movie as a little kid, leo vs raph will always be one of the best moments of my childhood
  • I never really seen anything TMNT until this movie, then I was instantly a fan. I enjoyed the Raph vs Leo scene and I loved Ralph fighting that tiny munchkin.

It is weird how grand and imposing Shredder is made out to be by the narration and even the way he is spoken about leading people to fear he could return in a future movie and he also looks so cool But if you consider this movie in continuity with the 90s movies then that means this incredibly cool character was crushed under a dock after the Turtles were on stage dancing with Vanilla Ice

Apparently the sequel was going to reintroduce Shredder. I can only imagine how badass that would've been. Probably would've been similar to the 2012 Shredder.

I don't care what anyone says THIS is the best TMNT film to me! The way the characters were modeled and designed, the fight scenes, the voice-acting! It all felt PERFECT! It was almost like a modernized version of the Mirage comics
  • @RealCoolGuy
The biggest sin of this movie is not fully explaining the monsters, which is discussed on the DVD commentary. The monsters are "real-life" legendary monsters; the first one they fight is Big Foot/sasquatch, the winged bat-like one is vampires, the diner monster is the Jersey devil, the last big one is Loch Ness, etc. I always tell people this when I recommend this film, it really helps out if you know this going in.
  • Fun fact: There's actually a prequel comic for this movie about how raph becomes the nightwatcher and leo became the ghost of the jungle. My favorite is raph because his story is actually sad and that line from the movie "crime never took a break" i think thats what he meant by it in his prequel comic. SPOILER FOR THE PREQUEL COMIC: Raph saves an old man from these criminals and that old man is actually the original nightwatcher they talk a bit and when raph comes back to meet the old man he died by the same criminals (idk if thats how the story goes its been so long since i read that so sry if i get it wrong) and that day raph takes on as the new nightwatcher

This movie will forever be my favorite adaptation of the turtles franchise, period. The storytelling, the visuals, the cinematography, the performances, and most importantly the fight sequences. Leo vs. Raph was and forever be fucking elite man.
  • The your mom joke is the best joke in the movie, but my personal favourite is “no I’m NOT playing hard to get, I TOLD you, it’s NOT THAT KIND OF PHONE LINE!!!!”
  • @kiryukazuma7960
I still remember most of it despite being more than a decade since I saw this. I'd be watching loads of TMNT stuff and alongside this I'd be building my LEGO TMNT set. Good times.
  • @HollowNaruto63
Brotherly hate and them trying to kill each other so relatable
  • Growing up watching this film, in theaters, alongside the 2003 show on 4Kids, sparked a huge and neverending love for the Turtles. I loved all the Turtle scenes in the movie, I knew the movie wasn't the best (skipped the whole 300 scene every time I put this movie on) but it still had a special place in TMNT loving heart. Thank you for voicing your thoughts and nostalgia trips for this film. I'd be down for more TMNT related content.

I remember seeing this in the cinema and left disappointed. But I can't remember why. it wasn't until years later I watched it on Netflix and was kind of like, "Omg. This is pretty great. The relationship between the brother but specifically Leo and Ralph is wild!"
