Happy Pride Month gamers! To celebrate, I’ve taken a look at some of the sexually dimorphic Pokemon lines and designed a third variant for them for folks who want some Pokemon that break the binary.

hey! great video, but i'd really appreciate it, as a nonbinary intersex person, if you made one small correction- because these pokemon have mixed sexual traits, regardless of their gender identity, that would actually make them intersex! especially because sexual traits have nothing to do with gender identity. :)
  • @Eyepokai
The phrase “being non binary will not save you” is so fucking funny to me.
  • @JohniVM5
Frillish really said "Gay wrongs!" 😂
  • They must include a clownfish pokemon that cam change sex upon evolution. Like it starts out as male initially but upon evolving it becomes female. Clownfish dimorphism would be great inspiration
  • @crableah
its kind of surprising how little pokemon plays with sex considering how weird it can get in nature
  • @r221grace
note: Intersex is not apart of the nonbinary umbrella since intersex is a sex and non binary is a gender

Also about the professor: I'm sure they would have been thrilled to get a question like that. Put yourself in a teachers shoes. You've been studying for years to teach this passion of yours. You put your heart and soul into it. Whether or not it's summer vacation, I'd be thrilled if a student asked "hey I'm working on a personal art project thats xyz, i was wondering, do you have any information about nonbinary aristocracy?" Worst case scenario, you don't get an answer. But definitely don't think of urself as a hassle! It's better to try than not at all. Also super cool that u have a professor like that...I'm sure she's quite passionate about it! ❤

Missed the opportunity to make the nidoroyal line yellow, which would make the trio the magenta, yellow and cyan color spectrum. I think it'd be neat because they're a form of primary color, contrast well with each other, and could in a more abstract way allude to gender being a spectrum. Definitely clever to make the chest plating a binder and gaff though.

11:24 I love the first part of this one’s Pokédex entry “being non-binary will not save you” it’s just oddly funny to me

Sorry about the transphobic weirdos in the comments, royal. I love these designs! I like the idea of a gender neutral Meowstic being more of a physical attacker.
  • Look up bilateral gynandromorphism- half looks male, half looks female. That might work better for some intersex designs.

Unsurprisingly, I enjoyed this video a lot. All these designs are great! The Meowstic is my favorite. Clever decision making it utilize the attack stat to distinguish it from the other two more. I have a suggestion for Nidoran Neutral's design. I think green could also work for the Nidoran N evolution line. Green is a popular choice for gender neutral baby clothing, green being a color less associated with either boys or girls. Green is also good because it is a cool color, just like the blue and purple of the existing Nidorans. Shiny Nidoqueen is also green, so it's not entirely unique. But most people dislike that shiny anyway. On a side note. There is a scrapped back sprite for Pokémon Red and Green, the first released Pokémon games, that strongly resembles Nidoran. The scrapped sprite being Nidoran Neutral is now my headcanon.

I remember I made a non-binary eevee once, and the end of its tail was just a straight line instead of spiky or whatever (I’m really bad at explaining things)
  • @zodiakgames
My big fear was that you would make the non binary pokemon objectively better then the binary ones. I think you did a wonderful job avoiding this trap. And on top of that, i did a learn! As a cis male who believes in acceptance and compassion, Thank you so much for this video.
  • @watermelondx
The frillish entry caught me off guard LMAO. I really liked the meowstic design! :3
  • @Kakord7
i fully expected nidorin to be named nidorinx lmfao
  • @betafurret1503
Something I think would have been a fun design idea for meowstic, is to take inspiration from chimera cats.
  • @Finn_River
I always liked that the male Nidoran was a color that society considered more feminine.
  • @SailorLoonie
When I was a kid, my silly brain thought of the Nidoran X line as a "what if Nidoran female and male bred?" I even made up Nidorine and Nidonarch as the names for the evolutions, but never went as far as making a design or moveset or anything lol
