You don't need to be good at bowling if you're good at engineering.

I made a bowling ball with James Bruton where it will steer left and right depending on how you lean. People lean anyways when the bowl to try and influence the direction so we just capitalized on that. It operates on the same principles of a BB8 ball.

My buddy Mark's machine shop. He is really great to work with and they can do really out of the box projects like this- www.BaumanMachine.Com

I started a company called CrunchLabs where we build a toy together and then I teach you all the jucy physics for how it works. So if you want to learn to think like an engineer and have really fun time doing it, check out the current promotion where you get 2 FREE boxes at crunchlabs.com

You should also go subscribe to the CrunchLabs YouTube channel cause we’ve got some great videos in the pipeline- youtube.com/crunchlabs

Thanks to these folks for providing some of the music in the video:

  • Mark, I'm a 78 year old (mostly) retired electronics engineer and I've just discovered your channel. This is the best thing that's happened to me in years! I'm not just impressed with your engineering prowess, I love your videos. You are making me excited about engineering again. You make an old guy proud to be an engineer. Great stuff! I can't wait to watch everyone of your videos.

As someone who works at a bowling alley and is about to start bowling on league, I’m not entirely sure how I’d react if someone came to my work with this sort of equipment.

Interviewer: So why do you want to be a mechanical engineer? Mark: HiGH fIVEs

Imagine being so bad at bowling you have to become a NASA-level engineer, then quit NASA, then make a bowling ball that wins for you.

As someone who bowls straight only, I'd say 3:30 also depends on factors of velocity and angle. I've gotten strikes relying on that method at various styled lanes. I would be positioned at the edge sometimes, but I'd make sure it's angled enough to have the power make up for the rest of the speed needed. Granted it's not consistent, but I have gotten 4 strikes in a row, so I'd say it's a fine method.
