Russian President Vladimir Putin is demonstrating to the world through recent trips around Asia that his country still has friends, and efforts by the West to isolate it are futile. Dr Chang Jun Yan, assistant professor of military studies and United States programmes at the S Rajaratnam School of International Studies, shares his thoughts on the significance of the visit to Vietnam on CNA’s East Asia Tonight.

He is doing his best for Russia, not doing it to prove anything to fake news CNA. Do your homework. Russia has many allies around the world.

Russia is also doing a good job for China ... going around to make friends ,signing agreement after agreement...with these countries ...economic or military pacts ...is showing to the world what the US can do ...Russia too can do ...and in fact China too can do the same . The best example is to have its naval.ships to Cuba and now to renew and strengthen links with Vietnam 🇻🇳 for the scars of the Vietnam war are still there . The US has not compensated the victims of those who have suffered from the chemical warfare conducted by the US on the Vietnamese. So this is a good move ..by Russia to help China when the US tries to use Vietnam against China 🇨🇳

Um, North Korea and Vietnam happen to be old allies since the Soviet era? But of course that means nothing to you. You are so smart

All these wars throughout history and humanity has still learned nothing. Cooperation and mutual respect is how we progress, not by conflict and rivalry.

That region is lucky to be visited by a Russian leader. These countries ought to be welcoming for Russia's trade ties and cultural exchanges.

N Korea’s recent history of illegal wars, occupations, regime change, and proxy wars in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria, etc….is a legitimate cause for concern.

Seems to me he has proved he has good friends in Asia...why are some newschannels trying to deny the obvious?

The Roscongress Agency, organizer of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2023), summed up the first results of the event that ended yesterday and was attended by 17,000 people from 130 countries and regions of the world, both in person and in video-conference format.
  • This video is a beautiful reminder of the goodness in the world. Uplifting!

In the historic visit, the key element of the agreement signed between Putin & Kim is - Russia & North Korea shall support & defend each other to the last soldier, if either party is attacked by a 3rd foreign party. An attack on Russia is an attack on North Korea, or vice-versa. So that North Korea may send weapons, ammunitions, troops, etc to Ukraine to support Russia? 😊
  • Many countries leader will visit Russia for BRICS meeting this October.

The international law is very clear on the South China Sea: - parts of it belong to some ASEAN countries including Vietnam 🇻🇳, - the rest of it is the international water, - no part of it belongs to China🇨🇳 or Taiwan🇹🇼.

Vietnam 🇻🇳 condemned Chinese illegal actions in Vietnamese water many times in recent years. - Where has Putin been at these times?

The former Soviet Union supported these Aian countries through their darkest moments. There were no long-lasting mistrusts between the leaders. Hence their friendship can withstand the test of time.
