No new gear this week, so thought I might answer a question that I get asked quite often on Facebook: "Should I get a Gibson Les Paul or an ESP Eclipse?" Here are my thoughts on that. Using EMGs in both of them, so not really sure how much you'll be able to hear after YouTube compression, but whatevs.

2:00 My Thoughts

TYPO IN THE VIDEO: The Gibson has an 81X/60X set installed.
NOTE ABOUT THE GIBSON: Somewhere over its 45 year life, one of the owners decided to install a metal sustain block under the bridge that was drilled for import posts, not regular Gibson posts.

Gibson Les Paul vs ESP Eclipse || Which Should You Get??

  • @Malum09
God, his voice is so different in this
  • I liked the ESP more.. ESP looks more sexy also. The Gibsons price tag is unbelievable..
  • Sold my Les Paul for 3500 dollars. Bought 2 ESP E II's. Couldn't be happier. ESP ALL THE WAY BABBBY!
  • 2:32 did anyone else notice the cat climbing up his amp in the background? 😂😂
  • Esp, I'm sorry not many Gibson's can stand up to high end Japanese guitars, their QC and craftsmanship is just through the roof and there built to last.
  • Good review. For me Eclipse is a modern les paul with modern sound. Gibson sounds more vintage(with the original pickups). If you play metal Esp, is your choice, if you play rock Gibson. I have tested a lot of Gibson but i prefer my ESP. Both are great guitars of course.
  • Those 2 guitars are sexy as hell, but i prefer ESP because Black mate is way sexier than Shiny Black

Hard to find talented players on youtube with original music scores and professionally produced reviews over a variety of relevant products. Subbed. Cheers dude.
  • @RByrne
Damn man! The voice now vs then.
  • @swlee91
both beautiful guitars. I remember trying yours out back in college, and I got myself a les paul because I prefer the chunk. love the videos man
  • thank you for paying attention and using both with EMGs!
  • How did u record it? Direct or with mic from ampli? The both sound's typical.. I think it would be make a difference if you recorded from amplifier Marshall behind you but I think it was switched off seen from this video
  • Anything with a Les Paul custom on the thumbnail is worth watching! Haha awesome video man!
  • Agufish, which one do you like more? Just curious. I'm looking at a Les Paul Studio which I think has 490R 498T pickups and the ESP Eclipse E-II Evertune which has Seymore Duncan Sentient & Pegasus pickups. I realize the ESP's going to sound different but I'm not necessarily looking for the Les Paul Sound.
  • Hello, I'm currently looking for a more 'professional' guitar to play in my hardcore punk band. I have an EC-401 LTD sounds good, but I need something better. I'm in an ESP eclipse E-II Vintage Black, a gibson LP Studio 2016 ebony. LP Custom escapes from my budget ... you recommend me for that price range?
  • I’m an ESP guy, but your Gibson actually sounded a bit heavier than the eclipse. Would still take the ESP since I love the neck and large frets to but the Gibson tone is really nice also.
