"He would then apologize for the inconvenience" Honestly, having Johnny Bravo MST3K his way through DBZ at x3 speed would've made my day if I was the caller because that's hilarious.

I'll never regard the JBVO "DragonBall Z" episode as a mystery, because I also saw it when it aired back then. :) I very vividly remember Johnny's VA telling the little girl over the phone that he can't play the whole episode, but he can fast-forward through it and commentate over it to make it up to her. That memory still sticks with me over 20 years later.

I specifically remember Johnny reading the letter, and saying: "Well... There's just one little problem with that. Your DBZ is 30 minutes long, and that's how long my show is (as well as makes mention about it being unfair), but I'll make you a deal." He then offers to play a sped up version of the episode, and asks if that would make the girl happy/suffice (or something to that effect). He then talks over the entire sped up episode as someone with no knowledge of what's going on. Just commenting things like "weird" and "cool". Making light of things. This would have been very late 2000.

I wonder if part of the reason JBVO has never be rereleased was because of the real kids giving out their names and having their voices on live television and such. That sort of things seems like it would be a legal nightmare, especially with minors.

One of my random vivid childhood memories is of e-mailing JBVO to request a cartoon. I was like 6 so I didn't actually write and send it myself, I dictated it to my mom, who did it for me. I requested a Powerpuff Girls episode that I just described as "the one where Bubbles gets mad" and threw a fit when Jonny didn't play my request the next day. Just one of those things I remember 20+ years later for no good reason lol.

It's surprising that more episodes of JBVO aren't saved. Wouldn't you think every kid would want to record themselves on TV?

0:00 jbvo 5:05 picanahey 9:18 whatever happened to robot jones 16:06 the wire (plug man short) 23:00 viva las bravo/toon fm/ johnny johnny 31:25 dexter’s laboratory episode “rude removal” 37:10 flapjack and chowder kellytoy plushes 41:24 full “mess o’ blues” short (LSuperSonicQ’s most desired lost media) 51:58 sym-bionic titan cancellation/merchandise/unproduced episodes
  • The problem with JBVO's longevity seemed to be rooted in a privacy concern and some long-time rights issues with re-running it. Because it was a show of shows and not 100% original content.

JBVO has a pretty cool concept to me. You could call Johnny Bravo and interact with him? That sounded neat!

If we can loose this much in 20+ years, imagine what we've lost over all of human history.. good vid. Crazy to think about how fast something can get lost, especially before computers and pictures.
  • Wouldn't some callers to JBVO be so excited to be on TV and decide what would be on that they'd record it if they had the means? Maybe that'd just be me?
  • @jinxylovesdeath
everyone told me i lied about johhny johnny but i vividly remember them arguing over who the real johnny was. oh my god. im freaking out rn

Here in the UK We had what was called Big Bravo Live which was our version of JBVO. However it aired sometime during a week school holiday back in 2000 and it aired all week from 8 am - 5pm. People could call Johnny and request a cartoon which would be played for an hour, it also had the chat and competitions. Following that Toon fm(live from Japan) aired during 1 week school holidays from 9-5 I believe October 2001. Cartoon Network did a Japanese themed week with it to coincide with the Premier of Tenchi in Tokyo, it was mostly just competitions and live phone ins. It then was a hour long block as you say around early 2002 on weekday mornings It lasted about a month.

It really makes me sad Cartoon Network doesn’t want to be amazing! Cartoon Network in the early 2000s had so much care and love to it. all the shows had a relatable aspect to them or a way to escape from the world. Fridays with Tommy and Tara is a great example to come back home and feel like your apart of something. Miguzi as well! Toonami was at it’s best in the early 2000s for me! 🖤💙🖤

"Being such a huge fan of Chowder, I was disappointed that there wasn't much Chowder lost media" You want there to be Chowder content that we can't watch?
  • @cntm51
I remember a commercial.. of johnny giving commentary over a DBZ fight. Either it was a commercial, or a small piece of an actual episode.
  • @DannyDopamineTV
I remember the JBVO x Dragon Ball Z. I did witness it. I want to say it happened in Spring of 2001. I remember being in school at the time, so it couldn't have happen in summer.
  • @RaltsGuardian
You absolutely need to cover the lost early 2000's-mid 2010's Signing on, Signing off, and mid programing bumpers from Adult Swim, that YouTube is horrendously missing because my goodness I remember so many from my past but there is nowhere that has them all documented
  • @BugsyFoga
CN Lost media has always deeply fascinated me, especially of the Moxy show variety.

If all these events had happened post 2010s they would all be digitised as a matter of normality via email, cloud, harddrive etc. and subsequently in more hands. But before 2010 digitising content was expensive and very complex to do. Love this content and extremely well put together.
