WE'VE BEEN MISSING OUT! OUR FIRST TIME WATCHING HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON - Group Movie Reaction

  • This movie is the definition of the word "masterpiece". Everything about it works perfectly. The conflict between Hiccup and Stoick is handled very well, the bonding between Hiccup and Toothless is perfectly paced, I love how much Toothless acts like a cat, and how all the dragons act like real animals, and the musical score and flying scenes are absolutely beautiful. I cannot give this movie enough praise.
  • I think Stoic is a much better character than you give him credit for. Being stubborn like that and still hating him is actually the exact same thing Stoic was doing at the start of the movie, which he learns throughout the movie to not do. Crazy how you missed the irony of that
  • I love the way Stoik's voice breaks whenever he's emotional in this movie
  • It wasn't just Toothless' flames that made him feared...it was his speed + flames, his divebombs then a single shot right before pulling up granted enough force to decimate buildings and knock down the red death
  • @chinchy5545
I love it when people's first reaction to seeing toothless' clumsy flying is "Man, this dragon sucks, actually!" instead of "Oh, maybe this dragon got injured during it's uncontrolled crash landing through several tree trunks"
  • @toothlezz16
There's a switch in characteristics if you notice. Hippcup started as clumsy kid while Toothless started as this majestic beast and centre of attraction. Thrice in the movie they say 'Get down. Night Fury' as a warning. The second time they say that hiccup on it's back. That's how deep their fear were instilled. But the third time they say 'Get down, Night Fury' after Hiccup wakes up, it holds a entirely different meaning. Toothless already built up the reputation of being clumsy pet jumping on people and running into them meanwhile Hiccup stands there as the centre of attraction of the village.

I mean his Dad is village leader. He probably witnessed so many of the people he loved and cared about die off because of dragon attacks. We love Toothles because he accepted Hicupp. But if you think back to the training with the Gronkle, it didn't hesitate to fire a blast at Hiccup. So yeah, while some dragons are like Toothless, some aren't. Hard to hate Stoic for picking the side of his people.

Fun Fact: This is actually based on a book, also Toothless isn't a baby he's a teen like Hiccup; book puts him at 12-14, but I'd say he's around 16 in the movie, Toothless is literally like just hatched when hiccup finds him in the book, also the dragons can speak...
  • @ehllis
please lads, if you can start doing more of these movie reactions that would be fucking mint. All 3 HTTYD films are goated, same with kung fu panda if you guys can cover those as well :)
  • @Yeb-wp9em
This was a surprise, but a welcome one!
  • You were wondering why Gobber was ready to back up Stoic. Well, they have a brother-like relationship. That's why in the rest of the franchise, Gobber is mostly involve in the Haddock family matters. Hiccup loves him like an uncle, and Stoic was probably a childhood friend.
  • Watching other people see this absolute masterpiece of a film for the first time brings back all of the joy of when I first saw it, and it never gets old.
  • I love how to train dragon because if you were kid while watching it the whole trilogy ages hiccup up from around 13 to a literal adult so i literally grew up with these movies. I’m going on to be 20 now it’s such a cool feeling growing alongside this series love it death honestly.
  • @shocker2799
Petition to get our boys to watch Race to the Edge?
  • @EatACHAIR308
I love this series with all my heart, it's my childhood, and they still are my favorite animated movies. I'm even planning on getting a tattoo as some sort of tribute for it.
  • @FGOboi
LET'S FRICKING GOOO!!!! Just when i'm about to sleep lol, it is 01:00 in the morning here
  • @Jackrost01
Fun fact: in Russian adaptation "hic" sound has analog "ek" so "hiccup" was transformed into "eking" which close to "viking"
  • @robrocrafts
Please keep watching this series! The two writers who wrote Lilo & Stitch wrote this movie. The main writer (Dean DeBlois) continued to write for the next two movies in the series.
  • @Illjwamh
I can't believe you guys have never seen this! One of the best animated movies of the last 30 years. Watching it in 3D in the theatre is an experience I'll never forget. The best part is, both sequels are really good too
