The coast of Western Australia stretches over 2,500 nautical miles, this is a distance greater than from the east to west coast of the entire United States. We’re beating our way down this mammoth coast into strong prevailing southerly winds. Nakama, our wee 34-foot sailboat is proving she was built for the task, but all this bashing has churned up the dormant monster living in our fuel tank, causing our engine to breakdown in the most crucial moments. We’ve gotten ourselves to a spec of civilisation to tackle this beast head-on. It's going to be a messy and challenging task, but we're determined to get our boat back in tip-top shape and to rid the diesel bug from our tank to continue our adventure south towards the Southern Ocean.

Clean diesel, a cold beer, the spirit of accomplishment, and someone to share it all with on a boat. Doesn’t get much better. 👍🏻🙌🏻🎉

Seriously best sailing channel around. So much close to reality . No drama, just the usual things of sailing. Good job S&S. Enjoy the journey while it last. Cheers
  • You guys rock! Love how you overcome the regular boat sailing issues and keep a great attitude. Cheers to Slim and Soph!

Fuel Polishing - Something to consider is putting together a fuel filter and water separator that you can circulate your diesel through. You can also use this to run your cans of fuel through and into the boat.
  • Awesome story telling is the strength of your channel. Thanks so much.

Love you kids! Glad you got your fuel & tank cleaned. Safe travels. ❤
  • Thanks again guys. My favourite channel. Glad you fixed the bug. Keep it up and stay safe, you can do it.
  • Great episode guys, I love following your trip from my safe harbour.
  • Have you watched Skip Novac's storm series? On an ocean passage he removes the anchor from the bow and stow's it below, drops the chain down the windlass with string tied to the end, caps the windlass hawser pipe to keep the water out. Just a tip
  • Sheep with a mullet! 😂 Only in Oz! Hope that beer was nice n cold for ya!🍺 Clean diesel n cold beer - Life's good! Cheers guys!

Hey guy's thanks again for another great episode and bringing me along with you on this epic adventure of yours!!! Hey Chilli!! Hope all is well guy's!! Much love ❤️ 😊
  • Always my first watch of the week… great production and great adventure… don’t know how you can study as well … bravo
  • Never fill the tank direct , even from a trusted pump . Fill through one of those filter funnels that even filter out water . You will be shocked at what garbage is in fuel . Also check the seal every time on the fill and replace if at all questionable .

  • 😀😀👍👍❤❤ I'm 76 yrs. old and also a boat owner and you all know who's the prettiest of all the "babes" on the YouTube sailing channels!
  • Hi guys diesel bug is caused by water contamination by condensation in the half empty tank or leaking deck filler
  • Used to live in C’von. Good to see Gordon’s boat Bandolero looking so good!.
