“they don’t like to be recorded” the amish to everybody passing through: “I’M ON TV”
  • These guys changed their “no electricity” rule when they realized how living in Florida without A/C is no joke.
  • @RantTherapist
I like how chill they are. They seem more grounded than most average folks.

They are the embodiment of this guiding principle: "But we urge you, brethren, that you increase more and more; that you also aspire to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to work with your own hands." - 1 Thessalonians 4:10 I love and respect the Amish so much. Thank you for doing these videos.

Thank you for capturing the Amish community here very well! So many misconceptions about Amish and Mennonites! We live here in Sarasota! I grew up Amish and we are Mennonite now. I enjoy sharing things on my channel as well!

I like how they're all chilled out because of no mainstream media poisoning their minds. This is how I want to live.
  • I moved out of the city & started to make friends with the Amish in Indiana. They are good people 🥰 So refreshing to be around nice like minded people. I'm never moving back to the city.
  • I really enjoy the beautiful spirit of the five Amish gentlemen just hanging out together, how precious the company of others who strive as you do and have kept the Creator central throughout.

I‘m mad at media outlets for portraying traditional communities like backwards. I feel bad for judging these people up until this day. Thank you Peter for your content!
  • @MommaFromScratch
They are kind and make you realize simplicity in life. I was just there visiting my sweet friend.

I love elderly people. They have so much wisdom and their stories are always so interesting!

These videos are making me appreciate America on a whole different level.

My uncle retired several years ago and bought a farm in an Amish community near Chambersburg, PA. He was a gruff, hard drinking, swearing (every other word), non-religious construction contractor from NYC. He was single but frequently brought in various women from the NY area for weekend trysts. So he was everything the Amish were not, but they embraced and accepted into their community. After a heart attack, they took care of him like he was family. They brought him breakfast, lunch and dinner, washed his clothes and cleaned his house, and everything required on a small farm, and did it all as if he were an Amish family member. Oh, and one other thing, these people were by average American standards quite affluent, even wealthy. They have my respect and admiration —the Amish I met were wonderful people in every respect.
  • The guy who didn’t say anything standing in the corner with his arms crossed, that’s the guy that I would’ve like to have him talk.
  • @ShyDog827
I think they got it right when they said we can’t live in fear during these stressful times. We have to help one another . That’s so true.
  • @native_wun
Their vibes reminds me of tent camping in campgrounds and how you'd hang out and make friends/community with the neighbours, walk everywhere, always be outside...the simple blessings.
  • This is missing from today's society. Everyone knows each other and are literally hanging out just enjoying one another's company. No phones, no tv, no distractions.
  • @ARusso1192
I live in the Amish central of Lancaster, PA... Several mornings every week I can hear the carriages going by my house.. And they really are just very humble people. They do not openly interact with everyone but they run many businesses in the community and they work extremely hard for their business and for their families.. The rest of the world can learn a lot from their values. And their food is incredible!
  • Peter, I casually found out about your channel during the last Covid lockdown. My main intent was trying to educate myself about all the different cultures (something I've got since I was born) rather than watching meaningless videos out of boredom. Here we go. You've got one of the most intelligent, instructive, and impartial channels of all YouTube and beyond. This is what I call an intelligent use of social media. Your glimpses of all layers and communities of the US are a great service to us all. When you, as a US citizen, admitted to having a kind of distorted/misconceived idea of the Amish community, made me feel less guilty, cause I had exactly the same, except that I'm a born and bred Italian woman. So, thanks again for your videos. Keep doing your job the way you do.
