I thought i was gonna be so bored listening to richard strauss because of his 10000s operas, but i was so very much mistaken, classical music once again humbles my opinion and showes that both symphonies and operas are the hardest of musical composition where you would obtain the highest of feelings.

That horn section is absolutely incredible! Along with the whole orchestra of course!
  • The first trumpet player is simply amazing, what an incredible performance!
  • Hard to take a walk in the Alps without this running though my head. Wonderful performance !
  • Marc Gruber (principal horn) is just special. No bump needed and the quick break at 28:10 before confidently reattacking the G to make the top B after soar across the orchestra is pure focus set on delivering an unforgettable experience for the audience, FRS is lucky to have him. Fabulous performance all round and Orozco-Estrada is just a joy to watch and listen to.
  • Worte können nicht beschreiben, wie sehr ich es derzeit vermisse, ein Konzert zu besuchen.

Man, those notes at 21:14 and 21:49 were astounding, among the best I've heard in performances of this piece. Kudos to the trumpet player!

I can’t even begin to fathom the electrifying experience of hearing this symphonic poem live, even through headphones, the sound is absolutely mind-blowing!
  • I have played this piece and i can say that is definitely one of the most beautiful journeys i have experienced... Richard Strauss is a genius!!!
  • I've loved this piece since my childhood. I've collected MANY versions of it and seriously, this just might be my favorite performance of it EVER! Extremely exciting, love it!
  • ♦️Listening from USA 🇺🇸 I'm blessed to hear world class orchestras and talented musicians most anytime ♦️This is magnificent. Thanks to everyone!
  • This is the best recording of this piece I've heard. Absolutely crisp articulation throughout the ensemble. Phenomenal musicians and conductor.
  • Weltklasse! This Symphony is one of the Most Complex-orchestrated Symphony. R. Strauss is one of the Greatest Composer.
  • Best hour I've spent by myself in ages!! Thank you!
  • R Strauss ... what an orchestral chameleon! Operas, symphonies, lieder, tone poems, chamber works. How extraordinary! Gotta' say the storm and torrents of wind are remarkably vivid and ... even frightening, if you've ever been in the Alps during one (I have). If they played this 1/2 or 1/3rd the times they played the Suite from Der Rosenkavalier, Strauss would be way more popular and better known than now.
  • Probably one of the best performances of this piece I have ever heard. Fantastic !
  • This is the first time I have heard this excellent symphony....and I listened to it again immediately afterwards. Stupendous live performance that leaves me almost speechless. Like the wonderful horn section, I think I need to lie down after this. The complete orchestra is superb and brilliantly conducted. Many thanks to all of you.
