KUNG FU PANDA (2008) Movie Reaction! | First Time Watch | Review & Discussion | Jack Black

This movie does so many things right. The characters, their development, the fight choreography, the lessons, how well it depicts ancient China, it's all so great. One part I really like, and often see overlooked, is how after Po lays out his insecurities to Shifu, we see that Tigress heard the whole thing and finally started to soften up and feel sorry for him, and realized he was actually taking Kung Fu seriously, not "treating it like a joke" as she previously stated.

If you guys start this then you have to watch the rest of the trilogy

Yes please! More kung fu panda , one of the rare trilogies where each movie is at least as good or better than the last one!

One of the best trilogies out there including How to train your Dragon as well. The Second part of this franchise is GOATed.

Tai Lang was just amazing The action The voice The relentlessness Frigging bad ass They've got to bring him back somehow

25:07 damn, I'm kinda disappointed you guys skipped put Tai's monologue about Shifu putting alot of high expectations on him, filled his head with dreams then abandoned him when Uguay denied him of the dragon scroll and Shifu didn't defend him. Tai lung has got to be top 3 of DreamWorks best villains. He's such a complex character that turned to villainy through experiencing something so human that some of us can relate to when it comes to high expectations and being over worked by our parents. Tyler wasn't just denied by his master, but his father. Tai Lung is a victim of forced ambition. 32:15 I would like to add, that while Shifu was training Po he was smiling. And as we remember from Tigress telling us the backstory and relationship between Shifu and Tylung, Shifu hasn't smiled since that moment. Po made Shifu love training again. Edit #2: Tylung is also very materialistic. He thought to be the dragon warrior is to be the best trained. Thus his confusion to Po's self gratification explaining why there's just a mirror in the scroll. Why there is no secret ingredient, it's just you. The whole movie we see Po made fun of for his physique and being illiterate about Kung Fu. Contrast to Tylung who's in great shape and after being locked up for so long, is still a very skilled martial artist. Ty lung lacks the internal aspect of a Kung fu master, and he lacks humility/empathy as the dragon warrior. Po was the dragon warrior from the beginning.

The reason why Tai Lung couldn't block Po's chi because Panda's are the rarest animals and that's why Tai Lung couldn't study a Panda's nerve.

It’s such a simple thing but it explains so much Po looks at himself in the scroll and says “it’s blank.” Tai Lung looks at himself in the scroll and says “it’s nothing” Po is blank, to be filled, a blank slate for kung fu, surrounded by people that are there for him. Tai Lung is nothing, he dedicated everything about himself to just being the Dragon Warrior, to read the scroll he thought held power, and it ruined him

I'm glad that you guys are watching this movie. This trilogy was part of my childhood. I still watch if any one of the 3 movie airs on TV. Can't wait for Part 4.

If you guys loved the relationship between Po and his father, do check next two( kungfu panda 2 and 3) instalments. Though I don’t think they are as strong as the first part, they do explore parental relationships.

The crazy thing about the parallel of the Noodles and Kung Fu is that Noodles has some of the richest history and culture and tradition in China, actually more so than Kung Fu.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, Go all the way for this reaction and watch all 3 part of this movie. The character development and the twists are so amazing. Can't wait for you guys to watch part 2 and 3😍😍

Wow. All the reactions I've seen of Kung Fu Panda. Not a whole lot ever watched until the ending for that small part of them eating together. I'm happy you guys did.

This movie is an absolute masterpiece!! Still as funny, as cool and still god damn wise....

Oogway means “turtle” in Chinese. Shifu means “master/teacher” (so he’s called Master Master). Tai Lung means “great dragon” (nice one, Shifu, way to raise his expectations)

My favorite trilogy. A movie like this is the result of so much expertise, hard work, and care. Character designs by the outstanding Nico Marlet, score by Hans Zimmer, voice acting by Jack Black, Dustin Hoffman, and the other A listers, and then theres the amazing writing, storyboarding, Animation! and the fact that artists actually went to China to immerse themselves in the culture and integrate it with honor and respect. Love this movie so much!!
