GW has stuffed up quite a few things, but making the Heros of the Horus Heresy a bunch of Astartes from Traitor legions was a great call. Just like picking up Surfshark VPN for 85% off here : surfshark.deals/majorkill
  • In the Lord of the Red Sands its said that the last of the loyalists from the World Eaters charged their primarch. It was also the only time Angron felt any respect for his sons. So, Angron went down to finish them off himself, and the loyalists charged their own primarch and traitor brethren. Because they're World Eaters, that's what they do.
  • Majorkill is the kind of guy who will knock you out in a fight and tell you 40k lore until you regain consciousness
  • @thewerdna
Its also heavily implied that the loyalist Iron Warriors who went to Ultramar are the origins of the Silver Skulls chapter. So their successors are still around and loyal to the imperium.
  • These cool gigachads truly were symbols of loyalty and honor that we as fans should see as examples of cool bros.
  • Malcador when recruiting Loyalist Space Marines from Traitor Legions: "I'm here to talk about the Knights Errant Initiative."
  • Papa Smurf kind of collected them and in old lore, the 2nd Founding disguised a lot of loyalist from traitor legionnaires as 'Ultramarine' successor chapter. For example, Minotars were suggested as World Eater Blackshieds being gathered together as an whole chapter under the control of the High Lords. It's a nice rabbit hole to go down and made me collect old space marine codexes to find possible loyalists. Scythes of the Emperor, Iron Skulls, Death Eagles come to mind. I believe Red Scorpions were also hinted.
  • I just LOVE the idea of loyalist Iron Warriors. Never lauded in the crusade, abused by their father in the pursuit of his ideals, even overlooked by The Emperor in favor of the fists, all of this willingly suffered in silence because they are LOYAL. Iron within, Iron without indeed
  • I really do wish there were more loyalist Night Lords. I feel like it could be really interesting to see stories about loyalist Night Lords putting the absolute fear of God into their fallen brothers.
  • @aethertech
Barabus Dantioch, died as he lived. With honor, unashamed, and beloved by all.

09:10 I really need to read how he convinced the Ultramarines that he surrendered to not to kill him on spot. That was AFTER Calth. That's some 100 level charisma moment
  • Dantioch was such a beast, he made best friends with an Imperial Fist. Saved Several Legions from the ruin storm by understanding ancient necron tech. He even dropped a fortress on a Imperator Titan, while butchering an entire Iron Warriors Company He has had a MASSIVE impact on the setting. Not to mention every second of his life was pain... as he was aged to over 3000 years by xenos and could barely walk

Small correction: Lorgar converted to Chaos about 50 years before the Horus Heresy, which was plenty of time to purge the loyalists in his Legion. And he did., According to a few separate Word Bearers, Lorgar lead a very quiet, stealth purge of his loyalist sons that lasted decades. By the time of the Heresy, there were basically none left outside that one guy who ended up on Macragge.

I like that Majorkill put Argel Tal (the only good Word Bearer) in the thumb nail even though he was super traitor but not a fan of the chaos gods. Dantioch was awesome but he is the reason that we have a Tyranid problem.
  • I'm certain that Alpharius was the loyal brother. The the Alpharius novel, he describes changing places and armor with Omegon so he could hide in the shadows. I'm certain Omegon is the one who died fighting Dorn
  • Poor Mhotep... dude stayed loyal and died defending the imperium and the group trying to reach Macragge even tho every single person he was allied with on that journey hated him and suspected him of witch craft and heresy. His space wolf counterpart on that escapade treated him like absolute dog shit and they even had mhotep locked up like a prisoner. Dude Def deserves some major credit for the saving of macragge. I think he is kind of the example of what would have happened with the thousand sons had Prospero not burned and if they had not seen all they saw when that happened. Mhotep was presented with opportunities to flip sides to the word bearers and he stayed loyal. I think all of them would have were it not for the extreme drama leading up to the burning of Prospero and magnus losing his marbles
  • @L00ww
i always enjoed the stories about the loyalist from triator legions the most. it is more than just "these bad guys are the baddies and all of them are bad, and these good guys are gooddies and all of them are good"
  • There was a night lord that joined up with Corvus Corax when Corvus went after traitor supply lines. He was apart of Corvus “inner circle” and stayed with him for a while.
  • The fate of Barabas Dantioch was tragic, sacrificed himself so his best mate Alexis Polux could live on and his funeral was really sad.
  • @dannyavarice
I actually didn't realize that the Grey Knights and the Echlesiarchy were practically made (or at least with the help) from a few members of various Traitor Legions. At this point it wouldn't surprise me if there are Loyalists from the Traitor Legions who also serve(d) in the Death Watch. I'm gonna have to do more digging and see what I can find.
