Making my own version of the Sculk (Minecraft 1.19)

Announced originally for Minecraft 1.17 Caves and Cliffs update, the deep dark, sculk, sculk catalyst and warden were features that were delayed two times: one time for Minecraft 1.18 Caves and Cliffs update part 2, and another time during Minecraft Live 2021 where it was delayed to Minecraft 1.19 the Wild Update.

Because of these delays, I've decided to make my own version of it, that is both terrifying and hilarious to play with, with new features like sculk mobs and sculk players (like a sculk custom origin for Minecraft origins). You can also play as a sculk, which is very suited for hunting other Minecraft players, exhilarating!

    Idea for when you become a sculk infected: You gain more health the more mobs you infect (via killing them) it caps at normal player health and drains back to normal if you do not kill for a while. I have a feeling sculk likes to spread as much as possible, becoming stronger the more it spreads.
  • I think that removing the “unable to hold items” and making it “get debuffs when not on sculk” would make this a great survival mod.

    I recommend adding an effect named "sculk withering", it only happens when standing on a sculk blocks your health bar slowly turning into sculk and When your health bar is fully covered, you start taking damage (also the more your healt bar gets covered the slower you get)
  • I always love the idea of something just assimilating everything in a game even better when you can take part of either side
  • I think this could be improved if mobs infected by sculk attacked non-infected mobs regardless of their previous relationship, and if passive mobs also became hostile once infected
  • I think it would be cool If the skulk catalyst was like a mini biome maker. Like imagine this. You place down a skulk catalyst, you go to sleep. You wake up. The floor is skulk, the walls are skulk, It's all skulk. You put on your boots and run outside. A dark blue, starry patterned land awaits you. Skulk trees that yield new wood, Skulk flowers and grass (as another person said) skulk lakes with dark water you can barely see through. Maybe even skulk caves with hardened skulk as a new ore. So many things, stemming from one singular, vulnerable source

    This mod would have a great compatibility with the requiem mod!
  • the sculk spreading infinitely kinda reminds me of how corruption/crimson spreads in terraria would be neat to play on a world with sculk infinitely spreading

    "The catalyst has the potential to gradually corrupt your entire world" So basically you gave the catalyst the power of a single Ebonstone/Crimstone.

    Another suggestion: Wool armor You are completely undetectable by sculk mobs unless you attack them
  • 3:19 I think the problem with the sheep is (and mind you I don't know anything about how this game works) the wool is a separate model than the sheep, as in, the naked sheep model is always present, but simply covered by the wool model. (heck, if you stick your face in a sheep you can sometimes see the naked model underneath.) So the skulk thing only changes the model underneath, I think?

    I feel like making an smp or a series and placing one of these and seeing how long it takes before people notice and how they take care of it
  • I love this! It's like a zombie apocalypse. Imagine if the sculk mobs actively tried to get you to the sculk to infect you and get you to spread it.
  • an interesting feature would be to be able to drag other players and mobs into the scullk to be absorbed by it just imagine playing on a rpg sever with this installed and you are just passing through and suddenly a players emerge from the scullk under your feet and drags you down into the scullk to become one of them
  • The way the skulk spreads in this video reminds me of the way the crimson or corruption in terraria spreads
