Marty is a virtuoso guitarist. Kirk is a good metal guitar player. Comparing him to Marty is just dumb. Putting in Tornado, an iconic solo doesn’t help Kirk.

While I absolutely agree Marty is better, I do find it hilarious how Kirk was basically given no chance by virtue of having two of his best and most iconic solos in Fade to Black and Ride the Lightning not included in this lmao whilst Marty has what is arguably the greatest solo in Metal history going for him.

Both have created memorable solos that influence many to pick and play guitar. Marty is far better but Kirk is still badass. Well at least in his prime when he tried.

I started this video with this thought on my head: "Of course Marty will kick Kirk all the way." But now after listening to those solos and watching the performances i should say that even though Marty is still better imo we gotta give Kirk what he deserves. Thank you both for creating such incredibe solos and lead work that inspired us to be better at guitar.

Not even a battle. Marty blows away Kirk by a mile. Kirk does the same things while Marty Friedman is always trying to come up with something new and exciting

Marty and Kirk are both excellent in their own unique ways. There's no way we can compare the two, even with Mustaine. They are all excellent lead guitarists, it's just they have their own melody and technique. Hands down to all of them.

Marty's Lucretia solo is the most beautiful solo of the lot, to both play and hear. If you wanted Hammet's most difficult, then Shortest Straw.

As a guitar player myself I must say that Marty’s solos are way more interesting and fun to play. Kirk has some good solos too, but his solos on newer records lack new ideas and sound repetitive

This comparison is completely unfair, Kirk MIGHT be an iconic lead guitar player but Friedman is completely in a different level both in guitar playing and song writing

I was just wondering if there's anything on Kirk Hammet vs anyone but man, I was surprised that it was Marty Friedman of all people. Kirk is great and have been a Metallica fan since mid-80s but Marty is on another level. I actually own a Cacophony cassette tape and it's freakin' awesome. A fan of both styles. Rock on.
