A special ceremony is being held in London Tuesday to honor a United States war hero for her sacrifice on the battlefield. Lucca is a German Shepherd that served with Marines to clear explosives in war zones. Her efforts protected thousands of troops, before a bomb ended her service. Debora Patta reports from Wellington Barracks in London.

“During her watch, NOT A SINGLE SOLDIER DIED.” But she lost a leg in service of humans. She deserves our salute and love. Thank God for dogs! shedding soldier tears

Our family adopted a retired bomb sniffer shepherd. His name was Black Hawk. We called him Hawk for short. He protected my kids and filled our household with great memories and love.

I was a Marine Canine handler.... Those dogs are so incredibly brave... I owe my life every day to a dog, and I'm not afraid to admit it!
