I spent 10+ years studying in medical school, but until recently, I had no idea how to learn. I've realized that even a simple understanding of the brain can unlock huge gains in learning efficiency. And I've condensed everything I know into a simple 3 step learning cycle. This is how you study smarter, not harder.

🙏 Thanks for watching!

me studying how to study instead of studying
  • My Takeaways: 1. Read and understand 2. Do not just copy into the notes from whatever resource you are following, instead understand each point and write it in your own words. 3. It is easier for the brain to remember in terms of connections / relations, hence understand every concept with a purpose and a result. 4. reread your notes from time to time just to refresh your self. 5. When learning it's very common to find multiple resources for the same topic, do not follow all resources choose one decent resource and carry on.

Summary: Collect: Collect information from new material or previous cycles. Filter the not as useful concepts from the useful concepts. Connect: Connect the information to long-term memory. Use mind maps to physically connect ideas together. Challenge: Challenge our understanding through practice. Utilise strategies such as teaching and practice problems to find holes or misunderstandings in connections of knowledge
  • I am a computer science student in africa and my first year was really difficult because i didn't know how to study, my results where crap and I came to the conclusion that i was just dull and should give up on getting this degree, but ever since i started watching the videos on this channel i have understood the mistakes i made and i am now doing much better at school. Also those extra videos you guys make on different topics apart from school have helped me find a balance between school and other areas of my life. Thank you very much Cajun koi academy, much love from Zambia.❤

When I was in high school and younger, I didn’t had to study or I was doing the bare minimum and still managed to succeed with really good grades. And now, I’m in university and here you can’t get away without studying. I realised that things have been so easy for me that I don’t know how to study really. So here I am, watching a video to learn how to have a more efficient study method.
  • I regret not starting studying this way much sooner as well but it's better late than never, now I am much more optimistic about how much potential I have to learn volume of material and I thank you for that
  • Your last segment helped me look at running in a new light. While it's not studying like this channel is dedicated to, it helped me realise that part of the problem I'm facing is me. Part of my lack of direction and new progress is me wanting to shrink back into my comfort zone. It's a battle I face each and every day, but thank you for reminding me with this video to keep fighting. Love your videos. They push me to be better, think wider, and aim higher. Have a lovely week ahead! :)
  • The theory about information stored as a web just made me realise why mind maps made me learn things so much easier. I love remembering pieces of information by connecting them together because I remember the connection better than the information itself. It's quite useful. I also get stuck in the connect step. I never go as far as challenging my information often which is why I constantly forget the details. Also I need to start spaced repetition already, I need to keep up studying for atleast a few hours after classes everyday and explore the topics during weekends.

Please make more of these animated videos. I greatly appreciate them and they're amazing. Just like we know, the whole learning styles is complete BS and adding another sensory way of learning just makes us, the viewers, easier to grasp the concepts of what ya'll are presenting. Thank you so much Mike and Matty!
  • It's such a simple analogy..collect, connect, challenge... thank you so much Cajun 😊

Hey Man! Just wnat to tell you that your videos are flawless. What you tell is useful and accurate. The animations are easy and light, the music is non distracting, extra point to have time to screenshot the summaery on the screen. I wnated to compliment on the effort you put in thease vids not just the knowledge you are providing with it! Keep up you going places! 😀

short, thorough, to the point THE TYPE OF VIDEO I WAS LOOKING FOR
  • Hey! It's the first time I visit this channel and I loved it! See I came here looking for ways to study more effectively because I'm into an industrial engineering course, and I've been using his techniques for a week now and I'm seeing some good results. Getting out of my comfort zone when studying actually has made me feel like I'm truly learning what I'm being taught, instead of memorizing things up for the exam. (Something supremely important ever since I'm supposed to use what I learn in college at an actual factory in the near future 😅)

Thanks for the video! Using these techniques tonight :) Honestly the most difficult part of learning for me are the starting and stopping. I struggle to start, because I dread the experience of sitting still and reading for hours. If I do somehow get myself into studying idk when to stop. Sometimes pushing myself to the point I pass out at my table. Maybe that is why I hate starting? o.o
  • Thank you so much. Just realized I was studying wrongly and wasting time. I'll definitely use this method and bring feedback when I write my tests. ✌️😚
