What's your favourite Ash Ketchum moment?
  • @Kinra_Jade
10:33 "It's not about how hard you hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward..." It resonated with me, thanks for sharing this.

The fact this video doubles as a study of Ash's character and also a way to help people better understand goals is great, such an amazing video, keep up the awesome work!

Ash's true potential as a person and pokemon trainer has always struck me as intriguing and mysterious, what with his unpredictability in battle and insane creative tactics that are crazy enough to actually work. Ash has something that most trainers his age and above do not (in fact VERY few others have this rare natural gift, no joke intended): the ability to understand and connect with pokemon in record time. In a fairly short amount of time, Ash can understand how a pokemon's mind works and act accordingly. In general, his love and compassion for any and all pokemon under his care, even those in the wild he has befriended, is indiscriminate and he extends it to all. He took in Infernape (as Chimchar) when Paul gave him the boot, but Paul would end up eating his words when Ash succeeded in helping Infernape achieve his ultimate power, the difference is Paul constantly tried to force out said power using, well, brute force and abuse, Ash's method was the exact and complete opposite, with patience and kindness, it proved more effective as Infernape's love for Ash grew to extreme lengths, empowering him drastically and thus he unlocked his ultimate power in response to his own desire to make Ash proud. Ash's love for pokemon is so powerful that he'd gladly DIE for them just to prove it. Like in Kalos, when he jumped off the top of Prism Tower without a second thought, to save Pikachu and both of them would've fallen to their deaths if they weren't saved by Clemont's dad at the last second. Then he dove head-first into a volcano to save Talonflame later on. Ash's strong-will, stubborn nature, determination and tenacity has many a time earned him the respect, trust and loyalty of pokemon who once would've just laughed at the idea of joining him or disobey him for whatever reason. His laser-focus on proving himself to pokemon can be irritating to his friends sometimes, but it has ultimately always worked in his favor. A few examples include his selfish and ego-driven Charizard who basically chose who he battled and his selfishness damn near got him killed by a Poliwrath, but Ash saved his life and so regained his respect and loyalty, and now he fights ANY opponent and with honor. His cold but kind-hearted Snivy, who once dismissed him as just another pest and a loser, Ash persistently followed her until he eventually gained her favor after proving his worth to her. His arrogant and overconfident Buizel, despite being caught by Dawn, he realized it was Ash who he wanted to be with as he could help him develop his strength further and satisfy his own need for battling, such was his biggest passion and after switching places with Aipom, he got his wish and shook off his arrogance under Ash's influence. More recently, the likes of Ash's Sirfetch'd, a brash, reckless and proud brawler turned into a kind and noble knight who fights like a true warrior after seeing the good Ash could do for him. Ash's pokemon often mirror his best traits, further proving their compatibility with him, he has this effect on them a lot. Another thing worth mentioning is that Ash has consistently shown strong spiritual connections to certain legendary pokemon, namely Lugia and Azelf, yet another ability that other people could only dream of possessing. In Alola, Ash caught the attention of Tapu Koko who took a particularly strong liking and interest in him, following and observing him from time to time. The reason for this was never properly explained (yes, I know Tapu Koko is curious by nature, which is explicitly stated in the pokedex, but it was a special case where Ash was concerned) but I personally believe it's because Tapu Koko sensed that Ash was a gifted boy with nigh-limitless potential and also sensed his abnormally strong natural aura, and so grew eager to see him in action, he stepped in and personally taught Ash how to execute a Z-Move. Hell, he became so fascinated with Ash, that he even barged in on Ash's final battle with Kukui, and took the place of Kukui's last pokemon because he wanted to FIGHT ASH HIMSELF at his best. Another thing I want to talk about is remember how Korrina's Lucario used to lose control of himself and go completely berserk after mega evolving? This is because they haphazardly rushed into it without properly understanding how it worked and it's specific effect on Lucario. Ash and HIS Lucario clearly remembered this incident, and took the necessary steps to avoid the same result, as well as to prepare for the deadly challenges that lay ahead, and Lucario would stay in control of his own actions accordingly, upon mega evolving. With the separate guidance of Gurkhinn, Korrina's grandfather, and Greninja, Ash and Lucario were able to properly and effectively control and balance their combined auras and make into one of their ultimate weapons in battle, and to fight in complete sync with each other from that point on. The final things that make Ash the true pokemon master he always aimed to become, are the mysterious powers that he seemed to gain purely from his friendship with his pokemon, that are unique (and available, for that matter) only to HIM. While saving Lusamine, his Electrium-Z was suddenly and mysteriously upgraded (possibly by his bond with Pikachu) into Pikashunium-Z, giving him and Pikachu access to the second most powerful Z-Move in existence, 10 Million Volt Thunderbolt (Note: After Ash's final battle with Kukui, his crystal has permanently stayed as Pikashunium-Z). In Kalos, his bond with Greninja grew as strong as his bond with Pikachu as time went on, and somehow manifested itself into a mysterious power, in the form of a transformation that appeared similar to Mega Evolution at first glance. Following a long period of trial and error, Ash and Greninja were able master this form, and soon became virtually unstoppable. Ash's firm and unshakeable belief in the power of friendship and teamwork has ultimately carried him to the top of the trainer world, a position he so rightfully deserves! Ash Ketchum has been the hero of many a childhood, his legacy shall never die. He took the competitive world by storm and conquered it. Long live the Monarch!

All the adventures ash went through made him what he is today.. and because he is the main character lol!
  • @BhargavN10
It's easy to forget that Ash is depressed so many times because he's usually full of energy but he didn't come out of it alone. He had help from both his friends and his Pokemon
  • @bacd-nn2lg
He was already powerful trainer after Orange Islands filler story arc but unfortunately in Anime Generations 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 have always created some ridiculous circumstances where he always lost every major pokemon tournaments in those regions. Unfortunately this formula was the main point that fandom didn't liked the anime too much which is a shame since there were some really fun story arcs. Ps. I can forgive somewhat that he lost in Kanto pokemon tournament, since he didn't have too good team to take on elite 4 even thought it wasn't handled too well at that time in Ash final match against Ritchie.
  • To be honest ash has made my childhood how it is today he taught me that on your journey you meet and have challenges to face but he had his Pokemon with him to guide him on that journey it just shows how much you can accomplish with a little help. He also help me realize that even if you have challenges he never gave up on them and he got up and tried again. I feel like this lesson should be taught everywhere if you fail all you need is a little help from your friends.
  • Ash’s true definition of being a Pokémon master was always there NOONE bothered to ya attention Go back to black and white and go to the final episode when ash is laying on the grass reminiscing and listen to what he states I feel like I’m the only one that actively pays attention to the show’s dialogue 😅
  • @ryutak777
For a long time I've been avoiding doing some really important things but one day I just yelled at myself in my head to do it over and over again and I did it. Which was shocking for me.
  • @chandrumala7529
I am depressed, stopped following Pokemon after ash left, but i am still watching your content. Great job man.
  • @banbowyt8945
This is unrelated but the fan manga Festival of Champions is an interesting story about the main characters achieving their own goals that highlights their drive, reason and philosophies.
  • @Mr.Crabz89
Bro this video hit me hard and strong. Just the message I needed to hear. Most people need to hear this even though it came from a Pokemon Anime.
  • @mendo5459
Great video Charles! I really liked the pokemon come self improvement combo, I found it really useful. Thankyou!
  • @MrOvergryph
Cosmoem can levitate, so its weight in Ash's hands can canonically be zero, and the fantasy trees in the pokemon universe have no official weight, so if a 10 year old can throw it then a 10 year old can throw it.
  • @SuparNerd
Oh wow. Haven't heard Redwall mentioned in a long time. What a banger of a show that was.
  • @jackking6191
The simple answer he's the chosen one Ash is also superhuman considering that he's able to throw massive logs around like they weigh absolutely nothing jump so high in the air that you can literally see miles upon miles and survive temperatures hot enough to actually incinerate someone or temperatures that could freeze a normal human instantly He's also somehow resistant or downright immune to things like time manipulation or reality warping there's also the fact that Ash Ketchum is actually incredibly durable and has a massive amount of aura that is probably the source of his superhuman abilities.
