Episode Notes:

1. I used Kega Fusion for the Paddle Control games. Mega SG for everything else.

2. As time went on, some of these appeared in Brazil on Tec Toy's reissues. They were, to my knowledge, built into the system and were not stand alone physical releases as they were Japan.

3, As I mentioned, there are a few adventure games that were never released outside of Japan. I can't read them to play them, so they were not shown here.

4. Some of these games are getting really expensive. Solomon's Key and Rygar are approaching $100 these days.

5. The Paddle Control only has a handful of games that use it. I own one but it doesn't work anymore.

6. Sega eventually rebranded the Mark III in Japan as the Master System. It had the FM Module built in.

7. Opa Opa is often said to be Sega's first mascot. I don't agree with this line of thinking. Opa Opa was only used in mascot capacity in Japan, so he was only Sega of Japan's mascot. Sega's first true company/world wide mascot was Alex Kidd.

8. Rygar does NOT have FM support. I had assumed both Tecmo games had it. Solomon's Key is the only one of the two that has it.

  • Brazilian only master system games should be an episode too, they got a lot of stuff for both MS and MD
  • I spoke with a Sega fan from that parallel universe. The Master System DID indeed get third party support there, but everything is on fire in that universe and covered in wasps, and also the wasps are fireproof and the fire just makes them angry.

Gotta love that cutesy music on Megumi Rescue as people are burning to death in a house fire
  • @rvfiasco
Today seems like a good day to play some Master System! Perfect timing! You know, watching these reminds me how this console is pretty much the equivalent of a boosted Atari 7800.

    "Woody Pop . . . a game where you must protect your balls . . ." 7:30
  • Megumi Rescue means "Blessing Rescue", if you wanted to know.
  • I laughed so much harder at "Woody Pop" and "protect your balls" than I probably should have
  • I really like to see your videos , there's something in here that makes me feel relax and nostalgic and makes me willing for more, maybe it's heavy drugs...
  • Master System is a rare case where Japan was the territory most deprived of cool games. No Psycho Fox. No Donald. No Mickey. No Asterix.
  • Master system was my first console. Loved it. Wish I'd have kept it, but my mother sold it when I got my mega drive/genesis.
  • In fairness to sega not seeking out third party partners: 'Why bother?'
  • @randy7894
Even more Solomon! This is puzzle platform heaven.
  • i loved my master system but hated having to go to the console to pause a game.
  • Games like Salomon and Rygar would have been a smash here in Brazil. The padddle controller too. It's easy to say it today but too bad they didn't take their chances with it like they did with the 3D-Glasses.
  • I would've bought Rygar if they had released it for the Master System in the U.S., that game was fun in the arcade and the NES version as well even though that version was different.
  • @GameSack
Too bad the paddle controller won't work on an international Master System (at least that's what I hear). Just like the Light Phaser won't work on a Japanese console.
  • Thanks for this! I’ve been collecting Master System games for years ,had no idea about Rygar or Solomons key .
