The original size was an entire chunk. This, mixed with plug-ins, meant that the server was trying to load moving blocks in an entire chunk all at once. This would prioritize the loading of the blocks in the chunk rather than the players. (The players there could not be loaded properly, so hit data could not be transferred)

This man could narrate himself drinking water and it would be the most interesting thing ever

"by trying to create a weapon, they accidentally discovered immortality" this was an incredible line considering that the reverse happened in real life. Gunpowder was accidentally invented when Chinese monks were trying to create a potion of eternal life.
