You guys have no idea how freaking happy you made me when I saw The Unholy War on here!
-
I liked playing Croc: Legend of the Gobbos when I was a kid.
-
Here are 10 honorable mentions: Gungage Heart of Darkness Invasion From Beyond (or B-Movie if you want to get European about this.) Mass Destruction No Fear Downhill Mountain Bike Racing Speed Punks (or Speed Freaks if you want to get European about this) T.R.A.G. Tail Concerto Vib Ribbon Wild 9
-
I'd vote for Future Cop: LAPD. The arena battles against the computer were super fun.
-
The Unholy War is one of my favorite games ever. I don't understand why that subgenre is so small. The balance of all the different units and their different abilities is incredible.
-
Team Buddies was one of my favorite ps1 games growing up. Such great memories.
-
Just gonna leave a mention of Future Cop LAPD here. The wars against Sky Captain were legendary!
-
My hidden gem recommendation would be Tokyo Highway Battle. It's a pretty fun arcade racer with a decent selection of upgradable cars, a banging soundtrack and impressive graphics for the time.
-
I just recently discovered, Jackie Chan Stuntmaster.And....wow! That is one heck of a hidden gem!
-
Jersey Devil finally got a mention! Nobody ever remembers this game but I loved it back in the day!
-
I loved The Unholy War back in the day and was hooked on it for a looong time. Maybe it's time to dust it off and get hooked again 😊
-
I’d like to add Silent Bomber to this list, and excellent and underrated game
-
I must say Dr. Tequila is the most epic video game villain name I've ever heard.
-
This is the first I've heard of Threads of Fate, and immediately got it on Ebay after hearing your thoughts.
-
I actually haven't played any of these games... but I see something named "Slap Happy Rhyth, Busters"; and I can't NOT be gripped by an overwhelming desire to play.
-
N2O: Nitrous Oxide: A better tube shooter with psychedelic visuals, various creepy insects as enemies, and a soundtrack by Crystal Method.
-
Team Buddies was so good back in the days, you missed Omega Boost too, it was a pure gem
-
I'm glad to see Threads of Fate on here, that was a classic for me
-
Star Gladiator and Rival Schools United By Fate are my favorites Capcom classics on the PS1
-
Gotta admit I didn't know any of those games and yet watching this list felt strangely familiar. In my almost 40 years of gaming I've never experienced such a generation as the era of the original PlayStation where so many whacky and creative concepts made it into actually functional and playable games. I myself played countless games that most likely nobody heard about and love them so much. As much as I still enjoy playing modern games, that past era is definitely something very special to me.
