Al Pacino won his first Best Actor Oscar® for his brilliant portrayal of an overbearing, blind retired Lieutenant Colonel who hires a young guardian (Chris O'Donnell), to assist him. It's a heart-wrenching and heartwarming tale of opposites attracting when they embark on a wild weekend trip that will change the lives of both men forever.

Ah the irony... The blind man is the only one who can truly see.
-
this is the greatest monologue in any movie ever.
-
"There is nothing like the sight of an amputated spirit" really sticks out to me as a great line.
-
He won't sell anyone out to buy his future and that's called integrity!!!! .... best monologo ever
-
There are not enough movies like that anymore.
-
The tone, the delivery, the way he looks, the not blinking, the way he stands up at the beginning searching for the stick, the raising his voice at the right moments. Pacino is truly an outstanding actor and for those (thankfully) few people who think this is “over the top”, this is a bitter, depressed to the point of suicide, blind military man who is feeling alive again, this rage, this passion is making him feel alive and Pacino represents this, along with a great script, perfectly imo.

But Not A Snitch 😂.. I always loved how he got straight to it
-
Al Pacino is the bomb man, his eyes never blinked during the entire speech. Ok, he blinked once.
-
Best line in the movie " "there is nothing like the sight of an amputated spirit, there is no prosthetic for that"
-
"I never took the right path, because it was too. damn. hard." a timeless message.
-
The script of this movie, this speech is mindblowing . Why can't they write this way anymore? I miss the 90's.
-
Pacino never served in tne Armed Forces but he certainly channeled the spirit of a soldier in this performance. Kudos to whomever wrote this scene.
-
Pacino in his prime. God I miss this generation of actors....and movies. So powerful with words, speeches....
-
"There is nothing like the sight of an amputated spirit" - this line is very sad.
-
This scene/speech gives me chills. Pacino at his very best.
-
It is not a movie scene, but a teaching for every kid across the globe. It's the exact lesson I will teach my kid.
-
This scene actually won him the Oscar. One of the best in the history.
-
"Excuse me?" "No I don't think I will."
-
Al Pacino has delivered a few unmatched power packed speeches in his career ... This was definitely one of his best !!
