  • You are literally a LIFE SAVER! I literally looked up so many other videos and they did not help at all. I tried hooking it up for 2 hours straight and nothing worked but I finally got it and you dont know how happy I am!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
  • 2:56 is where I figured it out on my TV. Much appreciated. I knew I wasn't completely helpless.
  • Thanks for this. I was connecting my laptop through a tv with hdmi via and soundbar with no audio coming into the soundbar, granted it’s an old soundbar. Your video reminded me I had an aux to audio cable which solved the problem. Win!

I have been trying to connect a soundbar to my TV for 2 months now. I followed the manual to the letter and watched a lot of youtube videos. Nothing worked. The supplier of the soundbar was no help - basically just told me what was in the manual. Then last night I came across the video. I disconnected the HDMI 2.0 cable and used an Optical cable, thenI changed PCM to Bitstream and turned off the TV speakers. Then tried the soundbar and It worked - FIRST TIME! I could not believe it - your solution was so simple and easy to follow. I am very grateful for your video - thank you very much - greatly appreciated!
  • Thanks 👍 great video!! My dad and I were desperate to troubleshoot this and we watched your video and in a matter of less than a minute we figured it out 😂 Thanks again!!!
  • I'm using aux. I tried bitstream and the other one. Still can't get sound.
  • Hello Thank you for the video.Quick question for you, my Soundbar Subwoofer combo bye LG was working and is hooked up via an optical cable I heard a quiet pop sound and the sound cut out completely I have checked the optical cable and the laser is projecting from my TV I also tried a brand new optical cable still no sound. Any ideas help would be Greatly Appreciated! Thank you. : )Tyler I forgot to mention the speakers seem to be working fine when I connect them via Bluetooth for example to play music. The LG unit is only about a week out of the box.
  • Thankful for this video... jus brought a sound bar and believe took my two days to find out why the hell this thing not connecting... sounds great now lol
  • This video helped me to identify what I was missing while installing my sound bar. Thank you!
  • Jeez - I had no idea this would be so complicated. We bought a Samsung this year and just assumed headphones would work with it. No - so I bought a soundbar and can't get that to work, with or without headphones. Really feel bad for my mom - she has hearing loss and can only hear the tv using headphones. Can't find the list on that site you linked but I will try your tips. Thanks!
  • Turning off the TV speakers worked, thanks so much!
  • @YanYeiDei
I have this same cable set up. I was getting sound through the sound bar, then it just stopped. I've tried these different configurations, and still nothing. I'm considering returning the sound bar to best buy. Maybe the bar is defunct?

what if when tv audio settings theres no bit stream? theres only pcm and auto?
  • My dad got an Element 43” tv and the sound would cut in and out constantly and today I got him a 39” Visio tv and it still does the same thing. Any idea why both are doing this? He never had this issue with prior TV sets.
  • Dude..I changed the output setting from Auto>PCM ...now my soundbar works...Thanks a lot
  • Thanks for the video but it disn't work for me. I ended up doing a factory reset of my SmartTv to fix my problem. No idea what is was, audio settings are identical after resetting as far as I can tell.
  • @dbs5817
Thanks! It worked, I changed the default digital output from PCM to AUTO
  • ill a Phillips css2133b7f soundbar connect to sanyo tv d42d24?? I can't get sound with a toslink....but I can play my music just fine
  • I had a different issue. The sound bar I've been using has been working fine for years, then suddenly it stopped playing sound. I had to either switch the source back and forth or turn off the tv and turn it on again to get the sound bar to play sound. It's been a bit odd to say the least. No idea if it's the sound bar having issues now or the tv itself.
  • I have got a lg wireless active subwoofer the rear speakers are working which is connected to lg bluetooth modem but my front speakers and the subwoofer is not working but it's paired but no sound is coming. Model No - SX95TZW-D
