The Lucrehulk is the best ship ever designed in Star Wars that doesn’t include super weapons or dreadnoughts. Prove me wrong
  • @benalor1973
Doesn't matter to where I am at personally with the star wars franchise if it's doing good or bad. Anything CIS related always gets me excited to hear about.
  • @granatmof
I don't know why, but I like the fact that the Droid fighter craft walks around on its "legs" like a giant pterodactyl

The day I found out that the Lucrehulk was a ship and not a space station was wild.

A terrible ship for slugging matches, but a hauler refitted into a carrier? Magnificent.

"Doom donut on standby. Prepare to be glazed." -Lucrehulk battleship captain upon exiting hyperspace. Probably. Unironically though, the Lucrehulk battleship is one of the most powerful warships in the setting. It is closer in size and capability to a mobile Golan platform than a "traditional" battleship. It took to being a warship astoundingly well for a converted merchant vessel. Though, that may be in part because when it comes to star wars capital ships, bigger almost always equals better.

It never occurred to me that the Lucrehulk we saw in TPM was unique amongst the Trade Federation's fleet, I guess I always just assumed that the other Lucrehulks we see on screen were also filled droids and fighters, but it makes total sense that they would only have one ship like that at the time while the rest were all still configured to carry conventional cargo, and it explains why they didn't have a backup droid control ship when the main one was destroyed.

I actually love this ship. Probably my favourite. It’s got great lore. Looks cool and impressive. And would love to know what a modernised version of it would look like.
  • @AshanBhatoa
I love how you're revisiting these vessels Eck. The first generation of Lucrehulk-class Battleship was only hampered with it's blindspots not covered by the arcs of the nasty quad-turbolasers across the equatorial and aft sections. In addition to the additional reactor systems linked to the main hypermatter reactor. Surprisingly, the Geonosians drew inspiration from the centerspheres of these freighters for the basic shape of the First Death Star. Another behind-the-scenes fact is that the Lucrehulk-class was intended to be a thematic predecessor to the Imperial-class Star Destroyers as denoted by Times Magazine.

I love the Lucrehulk, with its large reactor you can fit definetly fit heavy turbolasers on it and it has plenty anti starfighter defense. That and the ship just looks cool, imagine being on a bridge and comanding one.

I think the Lucrehulk should've had a supersized version like the Providence had it's own supersized version.

The episode 1 & 2 cross-section books are some of my favorite, just to see a little bit of the insides of these massive ships was amazing, also helped me as GM for knowing the basic layouts of ships for campaigns

I used to buy into the myth that these things were a joke, until I played Republic Commando. Yeah you were in a crippled acclimator; but that entire mission is just you hanging on by a thread. Pretty much anything up to a late war venator struggled to go toe to toe with the thing. To be honest, RC gave a very realistic look at what the war was like for a non-superhero though, much like how stormtroopers are actually pretty terrifying.

I just love how useful the ship can be. It makes a great work ship, a great carrier, and while not a fantastic front line fighter it's one of the few ships with the ability to project 360 fire with main and tertiary weapons. These ships are so big that entire smaller shipping companies could base their organizations out of one including just having everyone live on the ship. You jump into a system, release all your smaller freighters to different planets to drop off/pickup, they all fly back to the LH and you jump to the next destination with all your ships and cargo secured. Plus these ships are so vast that they can easily hide an ocean of weapons internally and externally and mount serious shields.

Lucrehulk was and always will be the most simple yet scary and powerful carrier/battle ship...saw ep 1 as a child and oh my lord I fell in love with the size of that ship, the powerful quad turbo lasers firing with immense fire power and carrying thousands of star fighters and planetary size invasion force
  • Honestly, the Lucrehulk is a good concept for a space station. I'd personally fill in the entire thing so theirs no middle gap. And 3 kilometers wide? There's a lot that can go on in there. From recreation to ship maintenance and even limited ship manufacturing
  • The Lucrehulk is honestly one of my favorite ships. Basically a super aircraft carrier in space.
  • @TriplePistol
Lucrehulk is the sole winner of the "best warship never purposed" award

I love reading the Death Star novel where the Fortressa attempts to solo the Death Star. We need more ex-CIS Rebel ships.
  • A C-9979 landing craft measures 210 meters by 370 meters by 150 meters, which means it would take up a total of 11.6 million cubic meters. If you assume that a Tri-fighter droid would need a rectangular cube to be stored propertly (and not nested together) each Tri-fighter would take up 65 cubic feet of space. So if you could pack a tri-fighter droids with 80% efficiency (like taking up 80% of the space) into the same space as a C-9979 you would be able to 144,000 Tri-fighters. The Lucrehulk, with tons of extra space and other equipment and cargo, can fit 50 C-9979 landers. So you could easily house 200,000 Tri-fighters inside of a Lucrehulk. If you were to replace all the C-9979 landers with Tri-fighters it would be well over 7,000,000. If the Lucrehulk were a dedicate starfighter carrier, then, it very easily fit 1,000,000 or so Tr-fighters in if you replace everything with Tri-fighters accept what you’d need to operate that many fighters (such as extra missiles and fuel). The problem then would be that it would take a very long time to deploy that many fighters.
