  • I am 2 yrs carnivore and tried going back to eating like most people eat. And it was a disaster ! I was on the toilet for days, eczema came back, headaches, runny nose, sneezing, fatigue, pain and weight gain ! I can do a little white rice, lettuce, zucchini, and that is it. But I'll just stick with carnivore thank you lol ! 😄

I heard a saying that made sense to me, vegetables can make good medicine, they don't make good food.
  • Elliot is a genius - his ideas, suggestions and guidance have helped my husband and me so much. We are forever grateful to him. This debate concerning strict carnivore versus some plant food reminds me of The Blood Type diet, from many years ago. More and more I am sensing that Dr. D’Adamo may have been onto something important, if not in all the details, perhaps in the general macronutrients needed. The idea is that one’s blood type indicates one’s body’s ability to digest certain foods, not directly, but that there is a correlation between them. The blood type, being easy to ascertain, can help guide the dietary choices for optimal health. Type O - meat, especially beef (obviously carnivore adapted); Type B - mixed meat (preferably lamb) and some plants and dairy; Type A - light meats and more plants; Type AB - similar to A but a little more restrictive. What Elliot is expressing and wrestling with seems to fit in generally with D’Adamo’s ideas. Just a thought….

My fiance thrived on a vegan diet. My hair started to fall out due to my autoimmune disorder and malabsorption even though we were eating unprocessed, meticulously balanced foods. Now, I'm thriving on a diet of carnivore plus one serving of greens per day. I mean: waking up at 5 am and going to the gym then killing it all day THRIVING, which my autoimmune disorder shouldn't allow. But my fiancee felt like sleepy anxious garbage and had to reintroduce carbs. There are definitely personal physiological differences that come into play.

I am healthier with fruits and veggies in my diet. I have gone strict keto and then strict carnivore for extended periods of time over the last two years. My weight loss always stalls and my thyroid issues flair back up. Right now I am doing gluten free and dairy free, while incorporating loads of fresh fruits, veggies and lean protein and salmon. It's working out so well for me. No more thyroid symptoms like muscle cramps, fatigue etc.

This is best interview i have seen explaining why some people get worse on carnivore as i did and need carbohydrate. I follow low to zero oxalate anyway

I find I get too much GI discomfort at either extreme - vegan/carnivore. Too much fibre, especially from beans/starch, and too much fat with carnivore had me running to the toilet. I find it’s best with animal products, animal fat and a side of low carb veg for salad works well for me.
  • Even though this video is only 11 minutes long, I can say that this was one of the most insightful video I've ever seen ❤💪🏻
  • Lions are omnivores, bears are omnivores, and people are omnivores. It isn't difficult to understand. The problem is that we messed up the percentages. People have been eating too many carbs and not nearly enough meat.

I've known since I was born that I hate most plants. I feel best on a carnivore way of eating and I'm fine with that. If other ppl feel better eating plants, that's fine too.

One possibility is that there's a bit of a 'chicken and egg' problem with digesting high fat high protein, and getting adequate taurine (sulfur) reserves to produce sufficient bile acids to digest a diet suddenly higher in protein and fat when transitioning from a plant based or SAD to carnivore. Taurine as an osmolyte can also help regulate minerals and electrolytes in much the same way that adding in some carbs can be helpful for people with cramps or electrolyte issues. It may take many months to restore taurine levels even if eating only large quantities of meat. Adding extra seafood may help. I think in the context of toxicity syndromes the body wastes minerals in the process of detoxification and enzymes also get damaged, increasing the need for minerals beyond what is available in food, and this is where supplementation can be a helpful add-on or the basis of a detox protocol. Sulfur in various forms has been key to improving many of my challenging symptoms even before going 95% carnivore. People could consider adding taurine, B1, biotin, NAC, MSM, epsom salt baths, etc and other minerals if appropriate and they aren't getting the results they are looking for, Elliot Overton has lots of good content on these topics.

What I took from this exchange, we should eat 80/20, meat/veg. You have to find your best meats (fats, too) and your best veg by trial and error. Might be dependent on your ancestry and can change seasonally. Thank you both.
  • @myrna4445
It works for me. I believe we all need to find what works for you. Everyone is different. No judgement. Much love ❤️. …my dog only eats plants when he needs to throw up. He will eat some cooked veggies though.
  • @Jamison77
Since going mainly carnivore I have noticed adding in plant foods causing instant discomfort. I know I need to take it slow and give my body more time to adjust to them but tbh every time I do it it just isn’t worth it to me.
  • Have dropped all plant foods last 7 months. Feel amazing. Many benefits. Oxalates just about all out. Wish I'd never eaten the toxins. Mega brain fog totally gone.
  • @johnkane9472
I'm two years carnivore and still struggling with muscle spasms. I have applied the "saladino" approach with adding carbs and it does seem to help. I cycle in and out of about 60 grams carbs. I also try extended periods strict carnivore and the spasms come back. Going to keep experimenting. My health has come so far during my time as carnivore-ish. My carbs sources are fruit. Always great to hear from you. 💕
  • @ElizabethS519
I think this a lot about individual tolerance. People have different abilities to tolerate vegetation/carbohydrates, some zero some minimal, very few equal or greater than animal products. The greatest harm of all is a vegan diet, which sadly is being encouraged on a global scale.

Thoroughly enjoyed the long version of this interview Lillie, thanks for sharing this quick version as well!
  • Me, I can’t eat carnivore😫 Every time I do, my autoimmunes goes out of remission, and I end up in the hospital, I have to incorporate fermented foods every day in order to stay healthy, I still eat animal-based though… ketovore ❤
