  • When I was in the US military a guy I served with his grandfather was one of Hitler's bodyguards. My great grandfather who fought in Patton's third army. Was actually fighting against his grandfather. We stood next to each other in formation. I don't know a better man than him. We are friends to this day.

It always bothered me when people canā€™t see that two things can be true. Yes sure your father was a caring loving father to you. He was also a monster to other people. The duality of man or whateverā€¦.

ā€œGustav Schwarzenegger (17 August 1907 ā€“ 13 December 1972) was an Austrian police chief (Gendarmeriekommandant), postal inspector, member of the Sturmabteilung (SA), and military police officer. He was the father of Arnold Schwarzenegger.ā€
  • Adolph Eichmann had 4 children. Three grew up to be neo-Nazis. The youngest became an archeologist and never hated or hurt anyone in his life.

My brother's wife still has her German family medals awarded for having "pure" children, 3, and other medals. After moving to the US her grandmother one of these pure children married a cuban refugee. Her maiden name Diez now married to my brother. Family history is fascinating

My grandfather's father came to the US from Germany in the early 1900s. He went on the enlist and ended upngoing back to fight im WW11 in the European theater. His brother stayed in Germany and fought with the German army. Theres no evidence that they ever encountered each other in battle. Howevern it's always fascinated me the their were brothers fighting in the same war against each other. I know that the Civil War had "brother against brother" but their story stuck with me.

My Grandfather died on the Eastern front. My great-grandparents were killed in the allied bombing of Berlin. We donā€™t talk about it. Thereā€™s nobody to speak with. My paternal grandmother was a child and the only member of the family to make it out and move to the US with a serviceman. Finding out your family were the evil ones is jarring. Iā€™m not sure what else to say about this. We donā€™t discuss it.

As one wise man once said: Monsters are never born, they are created
  • Well, I've heard that one of the officers continued to work in Germany after the war, and their kid got married, and that kid later in life moved to South America, and then moved to America and had a kid, then used that kid to get US citizenship. I hear that the siblings of that anchor baby ended up US citizens and still live in the US today.
