It’s a well documented property of thermodynamics that the number of Barbgaunts in play increases to match the number of green tide Ork lists in play 👌
  • I think point change will only have minimal effect on tyranid army since the problems that keep it as low win rate is lie in the rule of the army in itself.

I am not sure if one can call what the 'nids got a buff. We need to have points in our must-haves cut to include some of this other stuff that is still on the verge of being useful. Making our must-haves more expensive while cutting points to stuff that was unviable simply shifts some deck-chairs on the titanic, it does not make us more competitive.

Just can’t agree with your optimism for Nids. They did get a lot of drops, but most of these (maybe all barring Zoanthropes, melee warriors, and maybe Lictors) were to units that weren’t seeing high level competitive play. Almost every list that went X-1 (I don’t think there is an X-0 list) has seen a points increase of 10 points. That assimilation list is the only outlier. It was a great slate for internal balance, but it won’t improve competitive performance.

Saddeningly besides the Warriors, most of the virtually unusable units didn't see any points cuts. Like my favorite 9th edition model the sporocyst and others like the mawloc, harpy, hive crone, mucolid spore, spore mine and toxicrene. Of course now Warriors may be justifiable to use now which might be nice.
  • For Nids, Gargoyles going up 5 points hurts us more than all the point decreases on the other units helps us. Most of those units still won't see play.

My blood angels list went up by 50 points and i feel like that's completely fair, it could have even gone up by 10 more. Sure, its frustrating to have to rework my lists, but that happens every points change. This improves the game overall, so im happy they did it.

I want some changes to Chaos Knights but at this point it requires a ground up rebuild.
  • Dark Angels biggest bufff is Azrael staying at 105 points. I might even go buy one at that price 😅 Space Marines led by Azrael 😂
  • @SeekerOf7ruth
I love how they keep giving Uthar points cuts, and yet he is borderline unplayable except for the potential with secondaries.
  • I’m pretty new to warhammer minis but I’m brewing up a list rn for CSM that I think is pretty good!
  • I’m actually really hyped to bring my Thousand Sons out to play this season. I really didn’t like Rubric MSU spam as a playstyle and with the point drops I’m slotting in some other fun stuff to try. Tomorrow I’m taking a daemon prince and helbrute to see if they can do what I hope they can do. And I plan to pick up some cultists since I haven’t yet.
  • @Aderynism
fun fact, the datasheets admech got reduced on was half of what was needed to actually make them semiworth taking. That's how bad the datasheets are for their cost.
  • @sailorcam6347
why not drop monsters in general for a better aggressive build?
  • @runeh3022
I really hope they re-work Abaddon's datasheet when the codex comes. He's really only effective in terms of combining his Aura for Vehicle shooting etc and I suspect he'll not be as valuable in terms of having all the God-specific keywords in the other detachments. I'd love to see him cheaper, buffing infantry/mounted only (perhaps having a better synergy with his Terminator Bodyguards as well), and being a bit tougher so he can actually lead from the front like a true warrior-king should (tip of the spear). Right now he tends to spend more time hiding behind walls near vehicles than he should be. Feels like he should be named Perturabo in terms of playstyle tbh...
  • @Wes-xk6hl
Imperial knights are exactly where we want them. Dont need a single change. But sir... Nope, not a single point. Move on Ok but what about bondsman... I said move on!
  • Man, what are you smoking? Massive buffs to Tyranids? When most competitive list were running gargoyles and their lists all went up points on a faction that averages 42.8% at events this past season? This was a spiteful slap in the face by GW as the units they buffed have a hard time even breaking out of mid tables at tournaments. Our winrate will continue to stagnate and probably drop over the course of the season as other people lock in their lists and plan for the emerging meta, and we get taxed on a unit we NEED to win games as we fundamentally struggle on the primary game, and gargoyles are massively necessary for that aspect of the game. I can't tell you how much I disagree with your take here. None of the point changes make us inherently more aggressive, we are still a passive scoring faction, and comparing gargoyles at 85 points now to 80 point jump pack intercessors is a massive joke. Also The Norn and the Ctan, while being similarly pointed, are not basically the same thing. Just because you see a bunch of GREEN on our MFM sheet doesn't mean good things for Tyranids when the best lists went up or down 5 points. Incredible that you play this faction and don't see that this is a problem.
  • @Panathius
Trevy mate, I think you're jumping the gun a bit with your take on Tyranids. Psychophage might see some play now but it'll be rare since we don't have space in our lists for luxury units like that. We take gargoyles because we have to, and now their cost just went up. That won't be offset since all the other units buffed are still overcosted or their job is done more efficiently elsewhere in the codex. Swarmlord is still unplayably bad for his points and Tyrannid warriors hit softer and die faster than stealers while only being slightly less expensive even in Vanguard, as two examples. The faction is screwed, with a 43% winrate and a worse tournament performance than AdMech we needed substantial points decreases, not decreases to units that will never see play and increases to essentials. Also I'm not sure how you're convinced Norns are equivalent to C'tan. As always though great vid, good to see you talking about Tyranids again ❤️
