Ultem Tactile Turn pen bolt action mini | Way more than just a material change!!!

This is a review of the Tactile Turn Bolt Action Mini pen in Ultem 1010. This blade HQ exclusive pen is a new version of the traditional Bolt Action tactile turn pens. With multiple changes and improvements. It is a little larger and about 20% to 30% thicker. Most likely due to the need to slightly reinforce the strong, but still plastic Ultem 1010 material. I go over the changes in the Geometry of the Bolt action path that lead to a more snappy and sudden break when opening the pen and closing the pen. The Ultem provides a grippy alternative to the more slippery metallic titanium that I also own. The bigger pen body also allows for more commen and standard ink refill inserts. Also being lightweight and just looking great in my opinion. This is way more than a simple material change!

  • Great to see a review about the Ultem! I've been a big fan of the metal Bolt Actions (copper and zirconium being my favorites) and I think the Ultems are a great addition. I knew about the slight increase in diameter and didn't think I'd notice, but it is noticeable and really works with the light weight of the ultem material.

I think the ultem is Short size 5’1” and not the mini. Waiting for it to be available again in their website.
  • nice review! i really appreciated the ultem trivia :)

You can get the metal pens in bigger sizes to get more refill options too. Thats not really a strength of the ultem pen.
  • Quick question…when looking at the bolt, does it angle slightly forward toward tip of pen on the piston? What I mean is… it’s not mounted 90* to the piston? Just curious, thx
  • I’ve been in the fence about buying one of these. In your opinion, is it worth the price tag? I don’t mind dropping the money is the quality is worth the money. It would get carried every day.
