Dead Space Remake is finally out, and while it mostly follows the original game’s story, there are a few major changes here and there. So, here is the story of Dead Space: Remake, with its changes taken into account and explained.

Dead Space is a space horror story where humans stumble upon an alien civilization called Necromorphs that infest and multiply through human hosts. These aliens are all part of one hive mind that uses a mysterious marker to send signals and hallucinations into its targets in order to spread. While that’s a decent surface level telling of the overall idea, there’s far more to it. From cult-like religious zealots to government interference, and more.

You follow engineer Isaac Clarke and the crew of the USG Kellion as they answer a distress call from the planet cracking USG Ishimura. Planet Cracking ships are run by the CEC corporation in order to gather vital resources for the denizens of Earth and mankind, yet something seems off about this mission. From a distress call to Isaac by his lover Nicole Brennan, to the fact that the mining operations is happening on Aegis VII... a planet deemed out of bounds by EarthGov. What is going on, and how does this all tie into the cult-like religion of Unitology?

Find out all of the lore and backstory to this beloved space horror.

Even when there’s monsters that can rip you apart, the most scariest beings are the religious humans who think its okay.
  • If nicole offed herself and the marker reanimates dead flesh, chances are that you killed nicole at some point in the story...
  • Using Cross to change the Nicole twist to make it new to players of the original was great, and turned Cross into a tragic character used by the Marker, instead of a hologram.

God I hope they remake Dead Space 2 I loved the art design of the church of unitology. It was actually beautiful 😍 Such a great game. I'm loving this remake. I'm currently on chapter 7, it looks incredible on my Series X 😊

There's actually an alternative ending on New Game + which involves collecting 12 marker relics which changes the ending scene on the escape ship. I won't say what cause the ending is more or less another spin on how much Issac is affected by the marker.
  • Daily reminder that Isaac's mother spent his college money on the church of unitology

"Alien civilization called necromorphs" Okay, that legit made me laugh. Ain't nothing civil about walking corpses that exist only to make more corpses.
  • Describing the Necromorphs as an "alien civilisation" is really weird to hear; they're the furthest thing from a society I can think of.

In the remake it seems Kendra ain’t as bad as she was in the original. She seems to have more emotion in this one and possibly to really get rid of the marker

They need to make a prequel based on the first marker incident.

I love that this game is a remake instead of a remaster, really took the time to improve upon the game instead of just reformatting for current gen

Best recap to the first game I have seen. Great job!
  • This was the ONLY game since God Of War Ragnarok and Control where I read EVERY piece of lore I came across.
  • I’d like the new extended backstory for Isaac Clarke. Because he blamed Nicole for his parents death while on top of that feeling responsible for Nicole’s death it’s going to add on to the amount of guilt he’s going to eventually have to confront in the Dead Space 2 remake just as his previous self did in the original.

I really hope they keep remaking the main line games and make Dead Space 3 amazing, but leave the coop stuff to spin offs. Imagine a spin off coop game where you play as an earth gov spec ops team during the finding of the black marker. I really think they need to branch out the franchise for it to succeed, I'm so worried the remake won't sell well enough for EA to take it seriously. It's such an amazing remake let alone game.

Got to update this video with the alternate and most probably "canon" ending.
  • Calling the brethren moon/necromorphs a civilization is like calling a wild animal a human

2:05 in the remake they retconned the sovereign colonies. Instead the earthgov build that marker.

The fact that the necromirph in the first 2 seconds got it’s arm stuck on the railing while alive is surprising that the devs put in.
  • You got it all in 15 minutes? 💀 How much did you cut out?
