Documentary series which goes behind the scenes and on the roads with the characters who work on the M25, one of the most famous and busiest motorways in Britain. With around 200,000 people using the M25 every day, rush hour is usually chaotic, and things are particularly bad in this episode. Two traffic collisions have brought the entire area of Dartford to a standstill, and operator Emily is under pressure in the M25 Northern Control Room as rush hour begins to heat up. Out on the road, traffic officers Simon and Gary are dealing with a four-car pile-up that is blocking two lanes and fellow officers Andy and Keith attend a nasty crash between a lorry and a commuter who has suspected neck injures. Andy and Keith have to keep the emergency services safe on the motorway while they deal with the casualty. In the midst of all the drama, maintenance crew members Jack and Jamie are clearing up a lay-by full of rubbish and human waste left by lorry drivers.

Those officer trying to get through traffic is just another example of why smart motorways with no hardshoulder are a bad idea.

Youโ€™re not stuck in traffic, you are traffic!

For over 20 years I drove about 50k miles a year around the UK's motorway network. I now spend 12 minutes on a train getting to work each day. Do I miss it? Not one bit!
  • @ObiWanCannabi
they should rename this to "britains busiest carpark"

Narrators voice is interesting to listen to. Relaxing yet somewhat sinister! ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘Œ

" I POOED MY SELF A LITTLE BIT" did he actually say that lol ?!!!!
  • With service areas charging in some cases ยฃ34 to park overnight, and the lack of security despite the costs, it does explain why some HGVs refuse to use MSAs.
  • As someone who used to drive the M25 every single day I certainly don't miss the pile ups by Heathrow on a Friday afternoon taking all the time I've made up during the day away from me...๐Ÿคฃ
  • Since the traffic control personnel seem to always have a van type vehicle at accident scenes, maybe they should include a camping toilet and a space in the van so the workers can have a place to relieve themselves during the time it takes to clear an accident. Maybe a pop-out tent like enclosure off the side or back to provide privacy while using the toilet.
  • Emily is one to be cherished, to the powers that be.. never let her go lol

I remember when my dad caused the motorway to shut. He was driving an empty curtain-side lorry when it was windy and the wind got under the curtain and blew it over. It was near Christmas and my mum said he just wanted to get out of cooking the Christmas dinner ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
  • Why does it take 2 hours to get a recovery truck to the accident. Surely they should be positioned around the M25 so they are never more than 30 minutes away! Might cost a bit more but surely the quicker recovery is worth it.

CONCORDE444 The Rest of Airline Season 3 please. Then the other seasons. Can't leave us hanging with only the first 3 episodes and not the rest of the series like this.

I live near the M6 and thatโ€™ll do for me. When I hear traffic news about the clockwise and anti clockwise etc on M25 Iโ€™m just so glad I donโ€™t have to use it !
  • I bet the accidents happening on both sides of the motorway were caused by people rubbernecking at the first accident ๐Ÿ™„
