Just a suggestion: When I began IE I started out with a modified approach counting calories daily (which was my comfort zone) and then ONE DAY A WEEK (just one day) I practiced the principles of IE and allowed myself to eat whatever my body needed and desired, with no guilt. I listened closely to my body and ate only when I was physically hungry, I was mindful of what I was eating and I stopped either just before I was full or at comfortably full. THEN when I was ready, I added 2 days a week practicing the skills of IE, THEN 3 days a week, then 4 days (listening to my body) until I was eating Intuitively every single day and now it's my life! Trust that your body knows how to nourish you, keep you well and find it's right size. I love Clean & Delicious and I watch her all the time. She's great!

This feels really important. I think most of us have forgotten to simply listen to our body and eat when we are hungry. We are conditioned to eat at certain times and 'finish your plate'. If we could eat when hungry and stop when satiated, that seems like the healthiest way (both physically and mentally).

Oh I don't even know why this is the one thing that is the hardest of my life. I have tried so many diets and it's true when I want to try intuitive eating it seems I get scared or feel out of control and run directly back to bad dieting, not even just dieting, but to really bad dieting. It's ridiculous! I suppose the self-discipline would be much easier if my means of getting decent and cheap food was easier. We are living on a really tight budget and my husband always wants to cut the food budget first. So I tend to want to buy cheap processed food. The constant struggle is so real. I always appreciate your chats.
  • Hello my friends!! This week I am chatting about intuitive eating and why it can feel hard to do at the beginning. I would love to hear your thoughts and experiences down in the comments below. And of course, feel free to leave any questions or requests as well. xo - Dani
  • This makes so much sense! I agree completely. I trained my mind to eat intuitively, and not only did I free myself from the pressures of calorie counting, I also lost weight and maintain my current weight. Of course, knowledge about food and which foods work for you and which don't, is what helps intuitive eating.
  • Great summary! I worked with an intuitive eating coach a couple years ago and the difference and peace that I feel now around food has been so freeing! Love this video 💕

I have been "dieting" all of my adult life. And I'm not young, but I want off this rollercoaster!! Got the book from the library and am glad i found your channel. Thx for what you do. Really like the "accept your body " as it is. Makes sense.
  • i needed to hear this! i'm just beginning my intuitive eating journey, and as a perfectionist, i am scared to get it wrong. not having clear guidelines and the seemingly endless possibilities in terms of food choices is intimidating to me. i have told myself that it's just going to be a process of trial and error, and that i will even learn from my mistakes! everything is information, and i can use my body's feedback to better understand what it is that i want/need.
  • Dani thank you so much for putting together this playlist and explaining the concept of intuitive eating so well. I started a nutrition accountability group a few weeks ago and we are all in different places as far as our goals and what we are working towards, but I am wanting to focus on intuitive eating and share that with the group. Again thank you so much for putting this together!
  • @dianegrace.
So true - I found I do that - tend to eat less and want plant based foods - veggies etc...
  • Love this topic. I just realized I have been slowly moving toward this. But, I would like more chatting about this!
  • I’m so glad that I stumbled on your channel today. Helpful and informative content for building a healthy relationship with food
  • @everbejoyful
Thank you! I want to learn more about this concept and will go read the book! I have a high metabolism and struggle to eat enough to keep weight on. Eating is not something i particularly enjoy, especially if I have to make the food. And trying to cook healthy at the same time makes it seem to complicated. Id love to hear more videos on intuitive eating.

This is a great video and it was like you were speaking to me. I have been on countless diets and they "work" for awhile, but the weight always comes back. My goal of 2018 was to STOP dieting and it is harder than when I was dieting. It is learning to connect with my body again and I am working on losing weight by making small life long changes instead of instant gratification changes. Love your channel. Thanks!!

Hi Dani thanks for the steer. Finally found a way to thankyou ordered the book through the link! This makes so much sense. It's essentially a "reframe" of how you see food. This is what I need! I'm watching her seminar on YT and love this statement: "you're not a bad person because you ate a piece of apply pie" made me crack up! Yes!
  • @imit1989
Great tips! I have been eating intuitively my entire life and it is so great :) Have a blessed day!
  • @Kat-n-Ollie
I’ve never heard of this before but it makes sense and sounds interesting. Thank you for introducing this concept to those of us who might now be aware.
  • @auntpurl5325
This seems like a very mature approach to food. I sure want to get there! I did toss out all my "food rules"-based books. Trying to focus on actions and health and patience for the process. It's hard to let go of the crutch of a diet, however futile they may be.
  • Love this and it really lines up for me! There was a time when I was trying to do whole 30 and I was just MISERABLE. Someone in my life who is very intuitive suggest I add in just a few carbs (rice and honey) and suddenly I felt incredible again. I love the ability to change a diet to suit me - I don't do well with strict rules anyway!!
