Bill Nye has gone too far this time. All the way to THE TRUTH! He'll pay for this!

This is part one, recorded before I left for VidCon but not finished editing until after I got back.

This video features a common staple of response videos: Lots of still images where I just talk for a bit. I hope my lack of tricks to distract you from my idiocy doesn't tank me

  • hearing hbomb say that he did not intend for this 35 minute video to get "this long" is absolutely surreal in 2022

Skeptic: "What IS gender expression?" Me, a bit stoned: Bro he is TELLING YOU that's the SHOW
  • @AngryNerdBird
It's so weird to hear somebody say "Gender expression is just fashion!" as if that's a dismissal of what it is, and not LITERALLY WHAT IT IS. It's how you express your gender, which includes things like FASHION. He is SO CLOSE to getting it, but that was never going to happen because his entire goal was to be against it before he even saw it.

Science: "treating people like human beings is good" the right: "wtf"

As a trans woman I'm sad I just now found this particular Hbomberguy video. Good on Skeptic for allowing me with all his humble grace to be "trans-trendy". I forgot how trendy it was to be denied medical care, treated like shit, and victimized by hate crimes. Very trendy. Lmfao. Because we just wake up one day and choose to become minorities that are hated by weirdo conservatives. Sick.

"facts don't care about your feelings" "He made me angry... He made me very, very angry..."

Bill: Gender expression is a spectrum, so we should respect everyone’s choices for how they identify and present themselves. Armored Skeptic: Uh, that’s fake and bad and SJWish, you science denier. Anyways, I think we should respect people like what
  • I used to be a huge fan of this guy. My brother and I would watch his videos in middle school and we both ended up down the alt-right pipeline. This is actually the exact video that got me out of out it and actually interested in researching gender. I used to be exactly like ArmouredSkeptic in my view on it, but as it turns out, I’m actually a trans woman 😊 Thanks hbomberguy!

"Everybody knows there are only two genders. Straight white CIS male and Cultural Marxists trying to destroy all of gaming and comedy. Then there are only THREE politics. Conservative, centrists allying with conservatives, and Cultural Marxists trying to destroy all of gaming and comedy." - A good chunk of YouTube

I don't like that the anti-sjw community now gets called the skeptic community. Skepticism is very important and they donnot get to have a monopoly on it. They aren't even good at it.

Fast forward to 2024 and Armored "Sceptic" is now denying the moon landing happened

Speaking as someone who used to watch Armoured Skeptic when I was like 15-16, and who actually watched that video of his when it came out, I now realize that the "I wanted to know what the science behind gender and sex is, but Bill doesn't talk about it" bit is actually an important part of the performance. Something that he and people like him sell you is the illusion of rationality. And part of that means being open to new ideas that might change your mind, provided there's evidence to support them. Of course, Skeptic was probably not going to say "Fuck, I guess I was wrong about gender and sex, time to change my entire channel's output", but it was important to make you think that he would if the evidence pointed in that direction. Basically, in this part, he's saying "I'm intellectually honest, so if there was science behind this I would believe it, but see? There isn't any". That gives him the leeway to be as critical and dismissive of the episode as he wants. Ironically though, it's exactly the desire to be rational and intellectually honest that ultimately made me stop watching channels like his.

Right: Cancel culture is a problem. We shouldn't end careers over disagreement. Bill Nye: Maybe we don't know everything about gender. Right: BILL'S NO LONGER A SCIENTIST! EDIT: Nothing is funnier than watching the "facts don't care about your feelings" crowd oppose scientific fact.
  • Thinking being LGBT or gender nonconforming is "trendy" or a source of social capital is a sure sign someone spends too much time on the internet and not nearly enough out in the world

Something that personally bothers me when people are against being ‘political’ is that often, we have no say in what is or is not political. As a disabled trans person, my existence is seen as political. My desire to not die is political, my name, hopes, and dreams are all political. The same can be said for racial and religious minorities; It is a privilege to be apolitical. I have this sort of internalized fear of being ‘too extreme’ after years of hammering it into me that everything I do is ‘extreme’ and leftist, so I would often water down points, or even be too skittish to discuss any politics at all, I was terrified of ‘playing into’ the stereotype. I hate the idea that political means wrong. Kill the fear of taking a stance. Especially in our modern climate and world, take a stance and be vocal, support the people around you. Fascism thrives on the silent majority, and not trying to stay apolitical will often send you veering off into the far-right death pit; especially when the idea of leftism has been boiled down not to any policy, but to the idea of progress itself.

As a gender nonconforming cis male, I think it's so funny that people can think expression doesn't exist. Mate, I'm a guy but I genuinely feel uncomfortable in men's traditional clothing. If it was "just fashion" all men would be willing to wear dresses and wouldn't feel uncomfortable
