In this episode of Minutes With, we speak to the incredible Lurata Lyon about her experience as a survivor of kidnap and human trafficking. Lurata describes her childhood in former Yugoslavia, remembering when political tensions reached a boiling point in the early 1990s and led to war and ethnic cleansing for her family and villagers. After fleeing her home to escape the threat of abuse, Lurata is kidnapped by a human trafficking gang who sell her to the highest bidder for her virginity and eventually, her organs. Thank you for the bravery to relive your experience and share your incredibly important story. I'm 31 and none of this seems like it can be real, but that's why it's so important for us to know and remember. You were a modern girl just like me and suffered unimaginable adversity and still stand here as such a strong and bright woman. Thank you for this gift of showing us how strong and vulnerable and bold a scared young child can be.

This is the strongest woman I've ever seen. Such an unimaginable amount of torture she faced. I'm so sorry 😭😭

Hands down one the strongest women I've ever seen in my life. Trauma after trauma. She's incredible and so strong to speak so eloquently about everything herself and her family endured. I hope the rest of her life has been good and although she will have unimaginable trauma, that she enjoys life again x

This was one of the most difficult things I've watched, so sorry she had to go through it, those people who did that aren't human anymore.
  • It is absolutely terrible how people are detached from their humanity and they are pushing war efforts. I am sorry that this young lady had to live this through!

When she talks about her dad finding her, that's what got me. Such an incredible woman, to have gone through so much, so young, and come out the other side

Its almost unimaginable what a human being is capable of doing to another human, this shows in 3 million years were still animals.
  • Lurata, if you read this, I want you to know that I have this overwhelming sense that your innocence and purity have not been destroyed. I think their intactness shows in your tears when you talk about the inhumane acts you witnessed and suffered. Your innocence and purity make you the wonderful person you are today! ❤ Perhaps they were taken from you then, but in that case I believe you have found and reclaimed them. You inspire me!

When I hear stories like this, I'm baffled at how people can be so cruel and heartless. You are an absolute warrior, Lurata. I cant imagine surviving all that and not being destroyed by it.
  • I have never heard a more harrowing story in my life. I am around your age and what a blissfully ignorant life I lived in America while you lived in a literal hell. Sobering. Your strength is inspiring. Your story is important.

i was almost trafficked in Texas during a vacation 2 years ago by my tattoo artist. he spiked my drink and i went from sober to blacked out in less than 30 mins. i remember him carrying me out the club, him speeding on the highway to his house, me falling out of his car in his garage, him carrying me into his house and i saw a highchair and baby toys, and then i remember feeling some of it and seeing a flashlight like he was taking a video of it all. if it weren’t for my bsf having my location and rushing to rescue me i probably wouldn’t be here today

I am so sorry for what you have gone through. I can’t believe what so called humanity can do to each other. You are an inspiration to all of us. I am heartbroken to hear what you have gone through. Much love and respect

Wait until the rest of the victims/ survivors/ warriors come forward, naming names like film stars & politicians. Their day will come. Much love to this warrior. ❤

You are a hero ❤ Thank you for sharing your story. Keep shining 🌟

I'm currently reading this fiction book that deals with the trafficking of young girls and women into sexual slavery and I just came across this video. My heart breaks and it's so depressing knowing that we live in a world where monsters operate in utter depravity and no matter what the law and and justice system (that's broken and only works for the elite few) does to go after these human waste, such sickening acts will continue until the end of time. Some people come to this world to wreak havoc and prey on the innocent with their psychotic behaviours and there's nothing much we can do but try to protect one another and stand up to injustices and crimes against humanity. I'm so sorry to this lady for going through the pain that she did and pray for her healing.
  • I know this still happens until this day being sold or being too poor to sell the persons own organs in the black market...what a shame.. I'm so so sorry I pray for your full healing mentally and physically 🙏🏼

Heartbreaking, how she is still able to function is a miracle. It's so disturbing to learn that so many men turn into animals with no conscience, that they would torture innocents like this lovely young lady. I am so moved by her experience and that she still has the determination and belief there is good, I don't know if I could do the same. I wish for her to find peace and comfort with love and trust for the rest of her journey. So very sorry you had to endure such a painfully frightening experience. 🕊❤️🙏🏻
