It's amazing just how much these stories would be improved if the posters simply did a proof listen to it.

As a horticulturist, the biggest flaw with the concept of the plant prey species is that there actually are carnivorous plants that lure and devour insects and small mammals. Besides the obvious flytrap and pitcher plants. There are other plants, i.e., the figs produce a special enzyme called ficin, which breaks down the insect's body and turn it into protein that gets absorbed by the plant. Also, there are organic fertilizers that consist of bone and/or blood. Hence the natural life cycle of returning to the earth.
