I still love the 1600 rpm sound of the W986 (my parents had that washing machine for 18 years before it died
  • I t would be interesting to see the results using the Twindos system.

Miele’s old models are far superior in terms of build quality and appearance - plastics are nicer, the door is made of steel, the lighting around the program dial is nicer, so too is the LED display, etc. The wash action on the new model just seems a lot harsher than the old machine. Feel that Miele have downgraded their machines while continuing to charge more.
  • I got Miele w5748 ss! It’s so nice looking and nearly ten years old everyone thinks it’s new who haven’t been in my place. And it washes great it’s really quiet to not sure if it’s an induction motor? but only hear it spinning it’s not loud at all like a brush motor. Has 1400rpm and when washing no motor noise just hear the clothes and water slushing around. Only had one problem with it wasn’t a expensive problem. It works fine and think it will for ages yet. Do love the washing action and jet on the w1! My jet is just for filling it up on rinse. They really are very well made the heaviest washing machine I have ever handled 😩 lol

Super Test, erstaunlich wie gut die "alte" doch wäscht. 👍🏼
  • W986 - sounds like a jet engine W1 - sounds like a V8 engine

I have the W2305 W822 W1716 and the W838… all great machines with the strong MRT motors
  • I’m wondering how these two compare to the W1918 Miele.
  • Hello, I have the same Miele w986 but for me the cotton 60 time is 1h38 and no 1h58 how can i change it ? Maybe you know ?
  • I’m currently considering buying a Miele TwinDos washing machine. Your ‘experiment’ was very interesting but surely if you use the same detergent in both machines the result will be very similar. I would like to see the experiment comparing your usual detergent against the Miele UltraPhase 1&2 detergents which are designed to work with the TwinDos machines.

1:57:12 - mine makes the exact same spring / suspension related clunking noise when starting a spin, especially with small (unbalanced) loads. It's technically not an issue, but I'm wondering why Miele refuses to "fix" this in manufacturing by simply adding felt pads or something similar.
