Filmmakers seem to forget that the best way to service fans is to give them a genuinely good movie.
  • @Gatsby_OW
"He loves Leon" *casts someone *literally* perfect for Carlos*
  • @TheWipal
I just want one resident evil movie with an accurate cast like damn
  • Joannes: “Fanservice shouldn’t overshadow the movie.” Also Joannes: Almost every minute of the movie is fan service.
  • @contentcop
"He loves Leon" completely changes the character in every possible way

I absolutely hated the way they portrayed Leon. He was a bumbling fool, talkative, and honestly kind of annoying. For Johannas loving Leon he did him dirty af. In the video games and the cgi movies, Leon was a man of few words and was confident in his actions. Also, loads of references doesn’t equal good movie. Wish Johannas knew that.

I remember going to the theater dressed as Leon and I had it all, the haircut, the outfit, everything. When I entered the theater the previews were still going, and only one person recognized me, I couldn’t believe it, I counted at least 23 people and only one of them knew who I was, it was in that moment that I knew I was around people who have never played the games. When I finished the movie I was so disappointed, If I thought it was bad I can’t imagine what the people who have never played the games thought of it.

Honestly Leon’s actor should have played Carlos, he looks so much like the newer version of him

I cannot praise this movie for its constant references to the games. This is the sort of thing most videogame movies do all the time: they translate direct quotes, scenes, outfits or locations from the games but they utterly fail to understand their heart and what makes them appealing to the fans. Like the whole "Itchy. Tasty." thing, which in the game was a dark and ominous depiction of a person losing their humanity and here it's utterly devoid of meaning even though it's literally being written by a character who's shown to be losing their humanity. They have all the correct ingredients, but they're mixing them in the wrong order and proportions, so they end up with an inedible mess.
  • How can you be a fan of Leon but think of him as some kind of disheveled slacker? He's a total boy scout, even in RE4.
  • Lisa Trevor was terrifying. Playing the remake and having that surprise in the "safe" house was so cool. Her story was fleshed out and made sense when you couldn't damage her....ahh....good stuff.
  • @asainman8012
The literal giveaway for the Claire and Chris dynamic is that the memes of Chris finding a suitor for Claire shows that he loves her.
  • ...It just hit me. If the director wanted to make this movie with 2 Resident Evil games smashed together, why didn't he just make a movie out of 2 and 3? You know, the only games whose story happens at the same time?
  • @falsealias2046
He didn’t love the games. He was simply aware of them. I refuse to believe somebody was such a massive fan and still thought that all the changes to this movie were cool if not an improvement
  • @feyfolken1655
When I first heard about who they cast as Leon I was already a bit skeptical. I really like Avan and I think he could've been a good Leon, if they didn't change so much about what made Leon who he is. Yes he didn't start out as a badass. In the beginning he was a naive rookie, and bit of a dork at times, but he DID try to do a good job, and he genuinely cared about people, even Ada after everything she put him through. He wasn't some incompetent slacker anti-hero like what we have here. It's a miracle this Leon didn't get eaten early on.
  • 11:11 leon is so real for this bc honestly? same. i would categorically also not wake up.
  • @gimmibox
The borderline character assassination of Leon is def not what I’ll call fan service
  • @ProfWeeb248
Fun fact: I watched this movie twice. Had an abacus with me the second time, to count how many times they said "fuck." I counted 93 times in total.
  • I remember seeing all the ads for the movie and all the actors would say in the interviews in the ads would say “oh yeah I remember seeing that in the game” “that was in the game too”
