  • Ronald Reagan called Red Skelton a national treasure. And I agree. He was one of the kindest gentlemen you could ever hope to meet. I met him twice. I feel blessed.

Red Skelton was brilliant and his humour appealed to everyone. I remember watching him on our B&W tv in the 60’s with my dad when I was a little girl and we both giggled and hooted with laughter. Today’s comedians could learn a lot from Red’s gentle heart.

When you compare this to what passes for TV today, you have to cry
  • God broke the mold after making Red Skelton. Thanks for the laughs Red. God Bless!

I remember the trouble my mother had putting me to bed when The Red Skelton Show was on. I must have been five years old at the time. She would get me in bed and a few minutes later I would be watching his show from the hall. She’d tell me to back to bed but it was fruitless. I’d be standing in the hallway agin within minutes, watching Red’s show. Finally, my mother conceded defeat. She’d let me stay up and watch his show; and when it was over, it was off to bed for me. That’s how it was until I was old enough my mother didn’t have to fight me. To this day sixty years later, I am still fond of Red Skelton. When I see him on videos like this, I have to tune in. Johnny’s presence adds to the experience. Two of the greats.

I loved Red's laugh. What child of his era doesn't remember what a happy man he was on tv. Love him to bits.❤

After watching Fallon the other night, I really appreciate this generation of entertainers more. They were so talented with class, maturity and wit - no stupidity and vulgarity.
  • @crawlspaceguy
He was 70 years old here. In 1983 that was OLD. But he does look and sound great. Timeless.
  • @RobHoughton
Red struck me as a gentle soul who thought the best of us. I'll always remember his closing line at the end of his TV show: "Good night and God bless."
  • These were the greatest times for TV , and this show never gets old . Red Skelton was one of the funniest guys that ever lived, and Johnny Carson will always be the King of Late Night TV. R.I.P...You are missed.

Was fortunate enough to meet him in person. One of the kindest and most sincere people I’ve ever known.
  • Red Skelton..one of the funniest, best loved funny man ever.. No vile or foul language..just honest entertainment. ❤️🙏🏼
  • One of the all time funny guys, without any mean or vulgar comments.
  • @ibtaz451
There will never be another Red Skelton. His comedy is timeless.
  • Had never heard of this man. This unbelievably accomplished man. Unfortunate that the superstars of the radio era don't get into the mainstream history books. Maybe because it wasn't recorded like video. But what an incredible and sweet man he seems to have been! Hilarious even by today's standards, and SHARP as a tack even at that old aga! Wow! Reminds me of what made America great..people like him did it. Rest in Peace, Mr. Red Skeleton. Talking into the ether here with these comments that pretty much nobody will ever read is cathartic when I'm in a weird mood like this, realizing the sadness and grief that our mortality brings.

Two all time greats. It reminds me of the heyday of TV when you could find wholesome and genuinely funny entertainment that the entire family could enjoy and watch together. The whole country tuned in and watched these truly talented guys and others like them on a regular basis. They helped unite the country and contribute to solidifying it around a common culture based on patriotism, and love and respect of others as opposed to today's comedy which with a few exceptions is dark, vulgar, divisive and not very funny. RIP Johnny Carson and Red Skelton. We love you still.
  • Red Skelton.. love him and deeply respect him . He made my troubled youth tolerable.. and thrive with humor .. he was and is, a treasure.. he should be required reading in school ..
  • @gamadmex
One of my best childhood memories is watching his comedy show with my dad. Years later when I was in college we were lucky enough to see him perform live. I still remember the smiles on my dad's face.
  • @oldwolf1928
Red had a heart of gold! My Father was a Friend of his.
  • One of my fondest memories was my Mom Laughing at his show back in 1962. I can still hear it in my head. Thank you Mr. Skelton
