My New Harbeth P3ESRXD Speakers - And Why I Don't Need Megawatts to Drive Them

At last, after many weeks, I finally brought home my new speakers last week.
These Harbeth P3ESRXD speakers are not the most sensitive speakers but they sound gorgeous and I'm only using a 25 Watt amp to drive them because my room is small and my listening position is very close to the speakers - I therefore don't need a lot of power.
Also, I have bought some records !!!!!

Just discovered that I have a Harbeth dealer in Montpellier. Spent an hour with passionate owner! Has the whole range in a very nice listening room.
  • Superb vid! Nice intimate set up there! Great records. Love those Art Peppers!

I know its been 8 months since you posted this video but I just stumbled on it because I've been looking at Harbeth videos. What I find amazing is the Audio Innovations S500 integrated amp. I had one of those back in lhe late 70's early 80's time period. Unfortunely it blew-up for lack of a better term and was beyond repair. I absolutely loved that amp and have always wanted to replace it, but have been unable to find one in reasonably good condition. I certainly hope yours lasts forever. What a great piece both visually and sonically.

Let's have that follow up! Discovered these today. I have a similar small room. Currently have Q Acoustic 5010's and Monitor Audio Radius 90's "on loan". The P3's are a significant jump in price, but I'm currently chasing the dragon.

Those Harbeths are very neat, they must be some of the best sound per square inch speakers out there! :)
  • Which stands do you hope to have? I think open frame stands are suggested, and my own experience is that leaving a little space between the bottom of the speaker and the stand, really opens up the soundstage. They are beautiful. Very happy for you.

If you get a chance to try the Revel M126Be speakers, they are insane. I have never listened to music which just appears out of thin air. When I close my eyes you would not have a clue as to where they are. I was listening last night, and the music was hanging in mid air. Amazing experience. Just goes to show what research and engineering can achieve. Hope you have many happy hours with the Harbeth speakers.👍 Just got myself a new turntable and phono amp that was made by Michael fidler, that is also fantastic. I been left three thousand LP's by my late uncle, so I got plenty of material . But I did splash out on" kind of blue 45 UHQR ", holy cow !

I’ve a small room, with an Elex - r amp, currently using Dali Oberon 5s but would these Harbeths be worth the stretch?

Will you be doing a full review if these beauts?
  • The Mulligan LP (his great band with incomparable Art Farmer) was originally on Mercury - absolutely tops fr late night romantic manuevers

That room is identical to my own, are you in Hampshire? The style of house building is so exact. I would not dare have equipment like that in my house due to the horrendous crime rate in our area (Liss) And a scared to death police force just in case the 'suspects' happen to be black / foreign !

Any reason for not going with headphones? One aspect I like about speakers is feeling the bass through the body, but given the near field setup, playing at low volumes and no sub there wont be a gain in that sense.

Tou need watss to drive them! In near field they are so great that i wanted for PC setup but to rear wall they do not play they need 2 meters of air and near field, magic happens! Now i has C7xd ;)

hello there was no way to compare them with PMC 5.21i?
  • The Audio Innovations S500 is a fire hazard and a risk to your speakers. I used to have one myself actually a lot of years ago. Never leave it on unattended.
