Penn State vs Michigan was one of the headline games in College Football's week seven, and on Late Kick Live Ep 316 Josh Pate spoke about the Wolverines running for over 400 yards in a statement win in Ann Arbor. Penn State's defense had looked relatively strong coming into week 7, but Michigan's ground game overwhelmed the Nittany Lions and offered a clear picture of how the Big Ten East stacks up. I hope Michigan and Ohio State remain unbeaten until they play.

As a Penn State fan, can't say anything except that it looked like a match up between a Division 1 elite college football team and a bunch of highschool kids. We thoroughly got spanked and deservedly so. We don't deserve to be in the CPF contention, far from it. We don't deserve to be in top 15 either. I'm just hoping now that we get to 10-2 but I'll be damn surprised if we do. At this rate, i won't be shocked if Minnesota upsets us at home and Maryland too. All this talent tantamounts to bloody shit when our play calling is awful and our Qback inept. We are afraid to make the leap from a mediocre football team to a decent one, forge elite. Michigan did to us exactly what it was supposed to which is, show us our place. Good for them and I hope they go on and beat the buckeyes. That'll be a great contest to watch.

Back in '18-'20 we tried "speed in space" with Josh Gattis, trying to keep up with the rest of the college football world by passing a lot. Then in '21-'22 we decided to go back to the ground game and the results speak for themselves, 19-2 so far.

Michigan is alot better football team than the one that played Georgia in the Orange Bowl last year. From a Georgia fan y'all looked rock solid. Ohio State fans beware.
  • This guy said it best. Those scores all came on gimmick plays that you're only gonna pull off once. A blooper interception runback, a hurry-up keeper sneak, and a well thrown deep ball. that sneak and that deep ball made up for nearly half their total offense. Did Michigan just bludgeon a quality football team or did they expose a fraud? We'll see how PSU plays the rest of the season. Just a reminder: Michigan didn't punt..

Harbaugh’s 19-2 since the beginning of last year. That running game with a burgeoning, young, but talented QB. The Game is going to be a showdown when both squads walk in at 11-0.

That one day. the Saturday after thanksgiving. One of the greatest college rivalries out there. This one, is the first to truly give me ‘06 vibes. Mike Hart v Troy Smith. Meet Blake Corum v CJ Stroud. Can’t fucking wait.

I look at that schedule for PSU and I see a 9 win team at worst, likely 10. Good team with some deficiencies. Which leads me to Michigan, a team that just throttled that 9 or 10 win team. Very solid performance from a team that, honestly, made enough errors to make the score look a lot closer than it was for almost 3 full quarters. Halfway through the 3rd it was a 7pt game and PSU had it at the Michigan 39. Then it fully fell apart on them, the weight finally broke them. Michigan is better offensively due to the QB position. McCarthy is McNamara with a little more of everything. They're putting the same amount on his plate mentally (not too much, tbh) and McCarthy can throw it better, run it better and generally looks more comfortable at the position. Going forward, can he win a game where the opponent is able to keep the Michigan run game from winning it alone? We may find out in 2 weeks, their next game. Defensively, a little less athletic but a bit more even across the board. Both edges are a drop from Hutchinson/Ojabo but the interior is better than 2021. The LBs are down their best (Hill-Green) but a bit more athletic than last year while not as comfortable all around. The secondary is a little less athletic due to losing Dax Hill but those that returned are a bit more comfortable in the system this year. OSU will be a tough matchup. I don't quite see them winning that game but I said the same last year. They just need to get by MSU first and worry about that when it comes. MSU is a mediocre but talented team that will come to play because they always do.

James Franklin turned Penn State into Vanderbilt?
  • Crazy thing is Michigan is #15 and Penn St is #16 in the total team talent composite by 247sports. They’re basically even from that perspective.
  • As a Michigan fan I'm still not getting my hopes up. Defense was better last year, and we haven't won in Columbus since Drew Henson was QB, so expectations are still in check for me.
  • It was nice to see Penn State back up my claim from earlier in the year that they're not a top 10 football team this year.
  • Michigan might be the biggest surprise of the year. Good for Jim Harbaugh and that team after the failed nfl job search and the way last year ended
