The government of France owns the Cathedral of Notre Dame. Serge has the right to ask for donations, if you do not want to donate that is your right but let others do what they wish. PS. "French authorities have yet to determine the total cost of the renovation work, but a major European insurer is comparing the project to the $8 billion worth of renovations currently being done on the British Parliament buildings in London." So for those of you who think that they have the money needed to rebuild, you are sadly mistaken.

700 Million Euros have been collected by several countries and millionaires, I guess thats sufficient ^^°

I asked for my wife’s hand in marriage in Notre Dame.. for many they won’t understand the significance of this building or how much in many ways it is the soul of Paris and the heartbreak the fire had, to not only the French or Catholics but those that know the history of Notre Dame .. yes there are many causes worthy of charity but I applaud your efforts and all of France to bring Notre Dame back from the ashes..

I've just come back from Paris. I went there to see the damaged Notre Dame. It was breathtaking...

When we stayed in Paris we often walked along the Seine River towards Notre Dame. It sits there as the centerpiece of Paris. The first time we saw it, it took our breath away! Out of all the cathedrals we saw in Europe, this one impacted us the most.

Yes, Please save the insurance companies some money........

Great work Serge 😊 that's your country and your cathedral. It a shame what happened. My city had a fire that burnt down one of the oldest hotels in England. It's been 2 years now and they will rebuild it like it was or better. I love historical buildings. I can't wait to see what happens when they rebuild Notre Dame.

Notre Dame is more than just a building. It is a part of the history of Paris and the world. There is a saying that those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it. If that is true, and it often is, then what of those who are ignorant of their history? The edifices and monuments that are visible reminders of such history hold a value in and of themselves that makes their preservation a worthy cause. I salute your willingness to aid in the effort to preserve Notre Dame, Mr. Ramelli.

They have to rebuild it, BUT the problem is they just can't "rebuild 850 years"...it will never be the same! The Notre Dame as you know is just gone! Very sad... :(

The catholic church is one of the richest Organisation in the World. They have money to rebuild several Notre Dame. Also, thoisand of Kids die every day.... Never seen, that people spend that quickly to these tragedys.
