Sims 1 vs Sims 2 vs Sims 3 vs Sims 4 - Cooking

Sims 1
In The Sims 1, Sims can prepare a single meal or a group serving. But they will always prepare the same meals for breakfast, lunch or dinner, regardless of their cooking skill level. Higher cooking skill will reduce the amount of time a Sim needs to cook the meal, and will reduce the risk of fire. The servings will also be more filling.
With The Sims: Makin' Magic Sims can now make few more meals using a special oven. Using the special oven, and combining the right ingredients you can make a bread, Homemade Cake, Carrot Cake, Elderberry Pie, and a Magic Tart.

Sims 2
The Sims 2 expanded food and cooking to a whole new level. Now Every category has different meals to prepare for breakfast, lunch and dinner. When preparing a meal, Sims will pull out utensils and pots from under the counter as needed. As Sims build their cooking skill, the number of meals from every category will expand as well. Sims will prepare meals faster, and the risk of burning the food or causing fire will be lower. Cooked meals in The Sims 2 will produce steam. Like in The Sims 1, The Sims 2 also has a food processor available. Sims can also use a microwave when available. The Microwave in the Sims 2 spins.

Sims 3
Cooking returns as a skill in The Sims 3. There is also a natural cook trait. Like in the Sims 2, Every category has different meals to prepare. When preparing a meal, Sims can crack an egg. Unlike The Sims 2, Sims won't get utensils and pots from under the counter. Everything needed will teleport in their hands. But the batter will always spin when mixing
the level of cooking skill will determine the level of quality, the variety of meals that can be made, will unlock some moves while cooking.

Sims 3 also expanded on vegetarian meals with the vegetarian trait.
Food processor is also available in the Sims 3. Sims can also prepare some quick meals in a microwave. The food in the microwave won't spin.

Sims 4
The Sims 4, definitely expanded food and cooking to a different level. Without a doubt, The Sims 4 has the widest range of recipes and different cuisines to learn and experiment. The Sims 4 has more than 100 different recipes, including many vegan and vegetarian options.
Every category of meals is expanded. and Sims that are cooking while inspired, will level up the cooking skill faster. While cooking, Sims won't pull utensils and pots from under the counter, but Similarly to The Sims 3, things will just teleport in their hands.
As Sims continue to raise their cooking skill, they will unlock new recipes and tricks, this also reduces the risk of causing Fire while cooking. There won't be steam coming out of the dishes.

A Stand Mixer was one of the small kitchen appliances added with The Home Chef Hustle Stuff Pack. A steam cooker was also added in that pack. Sims can now make even more meals with it. This stuff pack also added a waffle maker. Sims will put some kind of waffle mix directly on the waffle maker. With this pack you can also make pizza.

Achieving Level 5 Cooking Skill, unlocks the Gourmet Cooking Skill . and a lot more recipes. As we saw in the previous Sims games, while cooking, aside for the for the stove, Sims can also use the oven.

Who is the winner?

I really hate how sims must do tricks while cooking food in TS4 I find it really annoying, just cook you're food like a normal person & stop throwing stuff around! lmao

Waiting for the food to be ready: The sims 1: no. The sims 2: standing waiting. The sims 3: Look sideways, up and open the oven to see if the food is ready. The sims 4: 💃🏻🏃‍♀️🏋‍♀️🙆‍♀️😀

The Sims 2 is, hands down, the well-cooked meal in the series.
  • The sims 4 tricks are trying to distract from the fact that the sims don’t dance together anymore

Sims 1, 2 and 3: Cooking with LOVE and art ❤ Sims 4: Cooking with sneezing, ear wax and jump after cutting finger 😵🤦🏻‍♂️

My favorite little detail from the sims 3 is that you can regularly go grocery shopping for ingredients and that having them will make recipes free to cook. It’s neat because when you see the prices pop back up you know you have to send your sims out to go shopping again. It feels realistic

I've only played 3 and 4, but I can definitely see why 2 is so beloved, them getting the pots from the cabinets? Love it.

Sims4 with all the flashy but no substance. I hate it with my passion.
  • @Gerewolf
You forgot how the Sims 3 also requires appliances. Hot dogs require a microwave unless using a grill

Sims 2 had the smoothest animations by far and the best details. From what I've seen through gameplay, I barely see anything locking into place, and I just love how they open drawers just to get the utensils they need. Sims 3, while not as smooth and detailed, is still pretty good and it has its own details that Sims 2 didn't have. Plus most of the recipes aren't just placing ingredients in a bowl and mixing them. Sims 1 is fine because it was supposed to be the foundation to all life sims so of course the later ones would do things better. Sims 4 on the otherhand... What am i even watching? Why are the Sims throwing their utensils around? Like I get that it makes it more fun to watch but I don't like how they're doing it with everything. Plus some downgrades we've seen are how they just dump the ingredients into the cutting board, how the saucepan automatically appears on the stove, and how the baking pan is already in the oven and they just dump it in there. Why is Sims 4 so obsessed with dumping things and why do ovens and dishwashers open automatically? Sims 2 > 3 > 1 >>> 4

I know everyone will say 2 is the best, but I want to take a moment to appreciate the little details in 3!

The Sims 2 had so many tiny details, for every single thing
