I don't know about you, but this is consider one of my all time favorite classics. Ed Harris and Sean Connery were both great in the film, while Nicholas Cage is just being Nicholas Cage
-
Wow. Surprised a sin wasn't taken off when Sean Connery called Nick Cage a f***ing idiot!
-
I love Ed Harris. Such a perfect actor when he plays military roles.
-
Ok, this has always bothered me, he goes through the fire based on a memorised timing algorithm reversed, then back through a door to let the rest through. When he escaped the first time could he not have just gone though the door?
-
How could they make a "the rock" movie without Dwayne Johnson ?
-
That sucks you didn't have the original version of The Rock. Before it was edited out, the good guys were detected entering the prison and the line that has forever stuck with me was said by a bad guy, "We have penetration in the shower room." When I saw it at the theater, most of the guys in the audience (including me) burst out laughing...which is probably why they removed it...

Hmm Cage didn't say that there was enough C4 to take down the building. He said that there is enough to blow the chamber, which would release the chemical gas, and kill everyone in the building. I mean damn if you're gonna nitpick at least do it well.

Add one sin to CinemaSins for calling a Huey (the most recognizable helicopter in history) a Blackhawk
-
This movie was peak Michael Bay. Action scenes are plentiful and clearly shot, cinematography is gorgeous, and each beat of the plot is laid out simply to move the audience from one action scene to the next.

12:58 Actually, because of the unpredictability of the mixture of TNT, RDX, gunpowder, and other explosives commonly used in hand grenades, the military trains you to never, ever "cook" your grenade. The system aims for detonation to occur 4 seconds after release. This gives the soldier time to hurl it in a direction. However, there have been cases of grenades having a shorter fuse due to things like a manufacturing error, environmental conditions, and how the chemical compounds come to rest in the casing. Not to mention, in a combat situation, a person's perception of time may be affected. Thus, cooking your grenade is not a good idea, neither is picking up one and throwing it back.

Mason's daughter said that he and her mom met at a bar after a Led Zeppelin concert three decades earlier, which would make it around 1966. But Led Zeppelin played their first United States show in late December 1968, a discrepancy of almost three years. That part of the movie always bugged me, lol.
-
The fact that the film tells you Mason is Scottish but has a villain later call him "an English prick" without Mason correcting him is worth at least 100 sins
-
Those helicopters are not Blackhawks, they are Hueys, probably the most recognisable helicopters ever built. Great film also despite its flaws.
-
They are not black hawk helicopters they are hueys.
-
Still a good movie because it features the last great appearance of Michael Biehn!
-
Kyle Reese's team was composed of SEALs, not Marines. Ding.
-
Sins or not, The Rock is an awesome action movie
-
Just gonna forget that he called Hueys Blackhawks
-
When the SEAL team were in the shower room, Ed Harris to Michael Biehn: "It's over Anakin! I have the high ground!"
-
They totally missed the biggest plot hole in the film. "The Galaxy Quest" cliche timing thing that only the good guy knows..... WHY? Why did Mason learn that intricate timing for a route needed to break INTO Alcatraz to open the door for the team outside. He was breaking OUT when he escaped. he wouldn't have needed that route at all.
