Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is filled with beautiful tracks, but we never get to see the backgrounds; until now that is! We even included a few tracks from Booster Course Pass.

Shoutouts to @Ro and @NuoKart for removing Lakitu and adding collision to most of the background objects.

  • For those wondering, you can play the N64 Rainbow Road track on Gamebanana, but the other tracks have been requested to remain private by the modder.
  • @Pitchstep
crazy how Nintendo put so much detail into things you can barely see.
  • This just makes me wonder why tracks like Maple Treeway and the Electrodrome haven't showed up as levels in a 3D Mario game, they would be SO MUCH FUN to explore!
  • @RedFalconTV
How could you do such a thing to our little cloud friend?? Cruel! Unthinkable!
  • @pokedude900
If you ever do another one of these, you gotta try Big Blue. It has perhaps the largest and most insanely detailed background of any track in the game.
  • @noname-jt6kl
I can't believe how much detail these tracks have. You literally race on this tiny track yet they put a massive city with individual houses, streets, trees and even moving cars and trains where you can't even see them.
  • @harrybest2041
21:22 That's just a normal ship, not the Daisy Cruiser. The Daisy Cruiser is in Yoshi Circuit and it looks different.
  • Step 1: Remove Lakitu Step 2: Add Textures and collision Step 3: Remove unwanted Collison Step 4: Hide and Seek Optional Step 5: Make Rainbow city a course.
  • @masibb64
I'm sad now that you didn't show the Koopa Troopa Beach(N64) in Sunshine Airport😢 you can see the stone Koopa in the background, next to those islands as a Easter Egg. I was curious how it would look like driving next to it. But fun video regardless!
  • I think this is the closest we're going to get to a new Diddy Kong Racing story mode.
  • @WRMHOLEMUSIC
This really makes me want to have an open world Mario Kart game!
  • @greenberrygk
I’m fascinated by things like this, but one of the best games with these kinds of robust backgrounds is Splatoon. One of the backgrounds has an entire fleshed out city with moving cars that you can only see the tops of the buildings in-game.
  • This is insane but I really do wonder how GBA Ribbon Road would work with this.
  • @AlbertBoris
I know Mario Kart 8 would be a lot more forgiving with exploration in that case lol
  • @Mp1Plush
Are you playing as Mario from Mario 64? Edit: You play as all of them.
  • 17:18 How would it be based on the mario odyssey version when this track came out on 2014....before mario odyssey was even a thing...?
  • @fnafmasterof
actually i watched red falcon's vids on these and apparently a lot of the collision was added in by thee modder to allow you to explore more of it
  • @coolguyyy9071
If we removed Lakitu how would we know when the race starts? It wouldn’t be Mario Kart it would be just “Kart”
  • In this video we're BREAKING the BOUNDERIES! Why does that sound familiar....? Oh....yeah! That's right! It's boundary break!
