  • No matter how many times I watch this movie, I just can’t get over “No Diggity”. This is the embodiment of Cool Teens Doing Ninja Things. This is probably the most I’ve laughed in theaters. I’m currently 18 and I had an absolute blast with this movie. I’m still a bit salty RISE got cancelled, but at the same time, I can’t be mad with how amazing this movie was. As always, Leonardo still remains my favorite Turtle since 2012.
  • I love that the Turtles went from Gen-Xers with surfer lingo to Zoomers. I hope every generation gets their own Turtles.

"Beautiful ugliness" and "the background is a character too" are the perfect descriptions of the overall look of this film. I particularly love how every source of light consists of two alternating scribbles. Also this is far and away the most I've ever related with April.

The best way I would describe the art style is an oil-spill meeting a kids sketchbook. It’s messy. It’s gritty. It’s rough around the edges, but it’s sleek. Its lively. It’s colorful and dark. Idk.

What I specially liked about this movie is that they never felt more like brothers than in this one. Usually there is always something pulling them apart like Raph bullying Mikey or everyone zoning out when Donnie nerds out on something but here they stick together through thick and thin. Love that we can have a family movie without one of those infighting subplots

Why are some people so against "uglyness" in media, specially when the imperfections are made with purpose and style. I mean i'd so prefer to have media where people can identify and find themselves in the characters for their uniqueness rather than sticking to the kitten face proportions ALL the time

I loved this movie. The art style was amazing and the story itself was so endearing. Just teens with a goal.
  • with this films animation style I believe a Crash Bandicoot movie is now possible

Regardless of how the "crush" plays out, I do appreciate that it had a purpose in moving the plot forward. That was a very easy and clean way to explain how Leo went from a tattle tale to also wanting to be accepted by the human world (instead of always raining on his brother's parade, even if he still wanted it too deep down inside). Splinter made the mistake of punishing Leo for his honesty about where they were in the beginning of the film, he and his brothers were grounded, his brothers were mad at him and that sucked for him, but April, talking to April, having an immediate crush on her... yep that's how "Teacher's Pet" Leo went along with the plan to take down Superfly. There might have been other ways to do it, but I think this works a little better than how the 2012 show did it with April and Donnie. It's a kid's movie, so uh, not expecting too much thought on how a human/turtle relationship would work past the end credits. Doubt the kids will either. I really am ready for it to go either way who cares at least she isn't a skinny red head like all the other times. Gargoyles, if anyone remembers that show, had a Gargoyle/human thing that didn't feel weird. You're exactly correct that Leo needs to come into his own as a leader and I think the crush on April might be one of the things he let's go, or at least stops focusing on, as he matures. I also have a theory about this new version of the turtles. Our main three movie villains will be Superfly, Shredder, and Krang. For Superfly we have a story about Teenage Mutants. For Shredder I am hoping we get more elaboration on Splinter's backstory, he said he was a rat in his prime when he was mutated but weirdly seemed to lack a lot of feral traits. I think he was a pet. I think there is a chance he was Hamato Yoshi's pet and doesn't want his sons to know he was a pet. So the the second movie will introduce the Ninja aspect and maybe more of Splinter's past. The third movie will give us our full Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Maybe a reunion of what makes these four brothers different from humans as they go up against the Krang? Mutant = negative association. This first movie being a mutant is a hindrance to their chance to be regular teens. Turtles = positive. Some difference are good okay, and maybe even a strength. I feel the way this movie completely scrapped the "ninja" part was on purpose. The next movie will touch on it in a fresh exciting way I hope because that teaser at the end.... oh boy. The whole fandom is about to eat.

I love Rise splinter, one of my favorites. He’s a father who slacked on their training and just wanted to raise his boys until things got real. When the situation changed he had to change, and step up as the turtles sensei
  • @davidm9214
"go steal from your local store kids, the turtles do it"
  • @boxedtroll
They did Rise so dirty. Unique villains and the designs are just 🤌🏼, it had so much potential.
  • @LordRumshi
In first look clips of this movie, Seth Rogen expressed how he really focused on the teenage aspect of the turtles since every interaction of them were performed by adults. Along with it was very evident the boys who voiced the turtles had tremendous fun in their roles, as did Ice Cube, but some of the generation z slang may have gotten old for viewers/older fans of the turtles.
  • My favourite line in the movie, which also helps to emphasize just how young these guys are, is when Raph says, "He's the GOAT of all time." Of all time is literally in the word GOAT
  • @jombii-7090
The Turtles in this ACTUALLY feel like teens/young adults. The humor hit right on the mark for both me and my friends. Im 23 already graduated from high school, but i can tell yall 100 percent THIS is how teenage bois act in highschool 😂😂 Also, can we talk about the fight scenes?? They DEFINITELY got Jackie Chan to look over the choreography, cuz some of the scenes are ripped straight from some of his older movies with all the prop fighting and whatnot (also Old Boy hallway fight reference was AWESOME)
  • @mileslugo6430
All the Humans are ugly in Mutant Mayhem but it definitely feels like a stylistic change. As opposed to Ruby Gillman where the humans just look ugly.
  • @kylephantom4
I like that the movie explores the whole theme of being teens just hanging out and coming into their own. I want them to grow into the ninja warriors, to have their conflicts yes but its good to have these kind of innocent roots to start with to allow the story and the young audience it gets involved to grow with these iteration of turtles.

tmnt is probably the only time when pop culture references dont need to hold up. Its getting reboots over and over again, the references are a stamp to when it was made and for who!
