Camp Candy Theme Song (Cover by Dale Wicks)

Published 2021-01-24
Neat song from my childhood, brought to us by two splendid and sorely missed chaps, John Candy and Harry Nilsson, both of whom died the same year (1994). I loved this series as a wee tot; doesn't really stand up watching it as an adult, but I'm sure if I were 8 again it would still make me laugh.

Dude, you do realise your the only one to do a cover of this song. There's 8 billion humans on earth, your 1 in 8 billion dude. Fing love this!

A video essay about the show just came up in my feed about this show. Nothing seemed familiar to me...except the theme. It was the strangest feeling like, "I know this music."

Had no clue Nilsson was involved in this, but it makes total sense. And as you said, these were two legends that I loved deeply as I child and mourned greatly when they both passed in my teens. Thanks for the memory.
  • I barely remember the show other than John Candy himself, but this song stuck with me! Pretty impressive for a song that was pretty chill in comparison to other Saturday morning theme songs!
  • The flea bites, the bee bites The bark of the tree lights The quietness of darkness The stories told by moonlight The long nights The food fights A summer made of memories At Camp Candy The moonlight The sunshine The rainy days and wet... nights At Camp Candy Good morning, happy campers! Let there be no end!
  • The original theme is like a damn acid trip. Every last note is held until the end of the song. It haunts your blood. The original is the noise a clown's soul makes when it dies and immediately goes to clown hell. Great cover though, I hit that subscribe button with the quickness
