“Last year on journey to the west.” Don’t worry, like any manga your audience is very used to waiting for months on end for a good chapter. Your in good company.
  • You kinda have to love that Sun Wukong proves the superiority of Buddhism over Taoism exclusively through application of his Taoist superpowers.

It's hilarious and kind of sweet that the religious bigotry chapter wasn't the typical "the side the author likes is real and the other guys are fakes." Instead it's "of course everybody's powers are real, our side's just better at cheating."

"We challenge your immortality!" Monkey: laughs in immortal

When Monkey said ,"It's about the Journey to the West, not the Destination to the West", I felt that.

So they could survive having their heads chopped off and their organs removed but they were just straight up lying about the oil?
  • so far in this series, Tripitaka's sutras have been represented by: -never gonna give you up by rick astley -all star by smash mouth -the raven by edgar allan poe -bohemian rhapsody by queen -lost in the woods from frozen 2
  • "Can we carry him?" 'Definatly not, people will ask why we don't do that all the time'

I can’t get over someone just coming to arrest a dragon at the end
  • I like that Sun Wukong got all dry and dressed just to kill that guy. I imagine he was grumbling under his breath the entire time.
  • “See who can summon a dragon” The god damn dragon-horse: does nothing but be a horse. Monkey: guess I gotta summon some by being terrifying. Everyone else: yeah there’s no other dragons that can help.

random guard: "how dare you insult my honor by being alive!" monkey: "how dare i, HOW DARE YOU!"

Competition: Requires patient meditation for an extended amount of time. Tripitaka: haha, I do that

The fact a book written in 1592 has the same humor as most books have now just tells you this book is amazing.
  • Fun Fact: Since the true identity of Tripitaka’s dragon-horse is Lie, the third son of the Dragon King of the West, he is Moang’s younger brother and the demon’s cousin. Speaking of family relationships that don’t matter, I’m fairly certain Guan Yin’s disciple, Moksa, is the older brother of Nezha, the twelve-year-old on those flaming roller skates.
  • Tripitaka: I lost my dear friend Sun Wukong in a battle of immortality.. Sun Wukong: I’m still alive!! Tripitaka: Sometimes I can still hear his voice..

“That motherfu-“ - Sun Wu Kong talking about the Gold Star of Venus
  • My favourite part of this story is when Monkey sneaks into the box for the guessing game, see's that inside is a small daoist and convinces the daoist to dress as a Buddhist. And because the daoist doesn't know any Buddhist chants he bangs a drum chanting "BuddhaBuddhaBuddha" when he comes out. This book is really damn funny.

He can scare the gods to make a storm... Give a single glance to summon 4 dragon out of fear and destroy a god damn mountain... But can't seat in one place for 2 minutes...... Yes, this is the type of mc we need
