Welcome to another episode of Modern Meaning. In this second episode of this series on anxiety, we will round off looking at anxiety from the psychological and philosophical perspectives. Expect to learn about existential philosophy’s profound discourse on freedom and the burden of choice. Alongside existentialism's psychological counterpart, Logotherapy, developed by Viktor Frankl, whose emphasis on the pursuit of meaning introduces therapeutic tools like dereflection and paradoxical intention as ways to navigate and mitigate anxiety. We will then segue to rationalism, which emphasises the acquisition of adequate knowledge as key to overcoming anxiety; and then move to the eastern philosophies, which highlight the illusion of self and the perpetuation of anxious states through attachment and desire. This podcast series is also available on Apple and Spotify. Anyway, enjoy!
