The Grand National is a National Hunt horse race held annually at Aintree Racecourse, near Liverpool, England. First run in 1839, it is a handicap steeplechase over an official distance of about 4 miles and 2Β½ furlongs, with horses jumping 30 fences over two laps. It is the most valuable jump race in Europe, with a prize fund of Β£1 million in 2017. An event that is prominent in British culture, the race is popular amongst many people who do not normally watch or bet on horse racing at other times of the year.

The course over which the race is run features much larger fences than those found on conventional National Hunt tracks. Many of these, particularly Becher's Brook, The Chair and the Canal Turn, have become famous in their own right and, combined with the distance of the event, create what has been called "the ultimate test of horse and rider".

Here is a compilation of the past ten winners that includes

2010 - Don’t Push It
2011 - Ballabriggs
2012 - Neptune Collonges
2013 - Auroras Encore
2014 - Pineau De Re
2015 - Many Clouds
2016 - Rule The World
2017 - One For Arthur
2018 - Tiger Roll
2019 - Tiger Roll

Thank you for this upload, disappointed this coronavirus claimed the 2020 renewal πŸ˜’ These 10 Nationals saw me change my betting approach to the race after a 2009 renewal where I didn't know what to back & had some good results (picking out the last 3 winners & finding 12 placed horses across this period along with only 2 renewals of no results) But also a interesting period this was with the race's character changing thanks to a combination of shortening of the race distance from 4m4f to 4m2.5f & change in fence makeup which also greatly improved equine welfare πŸ‘πŸΌ (for the record, 2 horses losing their lives each in 2011 & 2012 then 1 in 2019, the only one since the fences were changed).

Had three of those winners, Rule the world and both tiger roll wins. Was looking forward to this years race hoping for a third tiger roll win but for the coronavirus. Safety first but i don't know why they can't run it later in the year.Oh well, there's always the virtual national tomorrow.
