You gotta hand it to Gulliman, his human qualities are really admirable. He still honors his brothers and has belief in their ability to change and adapt and thrive in the imperium for the better and perhaps one day want brotherly comradery. Buuut. We know how it goes. Still avery wholesome moment here, though.

Perhaps my favorite book in the series, for the simple fact that it's just brothers being brothers

Having listened to “the lion son of the forest” first and then going onto to this book afterwards as well as the siege of terra set of books, almost made me cry.

Love this book and I love Primarch interactions. It's nice to know someone like Guilliman has a sentimental side.

You would think that the lion would escalate arguments towards a logistical genius like Guilliman. But im surprised it didn't come to that, just two brothers discussing plans to improve the imperium's might.

I read Abnetts Brothers of the Snake and just finished his first Gaunts Ghosts before my blind void jump into the warp with Horus Rising. Had NO idea about history & lore of the WH40k universe but I quickly learned that I wasnt a big fan of the Ultra Marines, that was until i read Know No Fear & UnRemembered Empire... Roboute loses his unwavering blue & gold cool, hunting down Logar & Angron. Nothing but mad respect

Kind of ironic how Guilliman speaks of the imperium enduring. But after the primarchs were gone for a 10 thousand years he awakes to the imperium in a stagnant rotted state theocracy and infighting none of them wished or envisioned to be. The imperium might exist. But it may as well be a hell in their own making instead of one they fought against from happening.
