HOW DOES NATTO TASTE?? (Japanese Fermented Soybean) 😩💩

Published 2017-06-03
I've always wanted to try natto, having seen it on tv before. The texture and smell are apparently horrific, so let's see how this goes...

Youtuber: "I want to be respectful" Also Youtuber: "It smells like...chicken poop"....."It looks like somebody spit in your food...a whole lotta spit....like someone spit in your mouth"...constantly making stinky face....

Typical Comments About Natto: "It's so good if you eat it with [insert multiple strong-flavored components that compensate for the natto itself tasing terrible]"
  • They seem like one of those foods that you either develop a taste for or immediately dislike. I tried some curry for the first time and it tasted completely different than anything I've eaten before but never really got used to the flavor but still didn't exactly dislike it. The experience of trying exciting new foods beats eating the same old stuff anytime

This is a popular breakfast food the Japanese people eat. I had just heard this food helps slow down the aging process for women. Slows the bone loss in the womans faces that contributes to aging. Its worth a try.

This video makes me think I might actually like natto.

Do you mind me asking where you bought it? Was it at Ebisuya? I have been curious about natto for years but can never find it. It definitely seems like it would be an acquired taste.

Natto tastes to me kinda like soft coffee beans, but not that sharp? It's not really something I would order again, but I wouldn't steer clear of it if someone said they had a better way to eat it than I did. With the texture just imagine its like stringy cheese and you wont be as grossed out.

Love this woman and love the video. I may order some NATTO since you told me how it taste. But it will have to be mixed with rice and maybe sesame oil and soy sauce with a couple of eggs. But I just happen to think, you did add a packet that might have been soy sauce which could have changed the flavor. I hope you make another video tasting the NATTO without the additional stuff and give your thoughts. Than add maybe the soy sauce packet and give us your thoughts then the mustard packet giving us your thoughts.

I come here because of Eden and Aciel. Those very cute kids love natto so much so i'm curious how actually it tastes like
  • When i eat it, taste like to much wasabi and bitter aftertaste to it, the smell is actually good in weird way
  • I used to absolutely hate it until recently when i bought a pack to lower cholestorol. Now, after 20 years from my first taste, i am ABSOLUTELY addicted to natto. I don't even need rice. I can devour it with nothing but the sauce and mustard packet. So delicious 😋😋😋

"I want to be respectful, too." Mission failed.

I have been eating natto for 2 years. It has helped reverse my osteopenia. When I first tried it, I gagged. It took me 6 months before I got up enough courage to try it again. I eat it with breakfast 3 times a week now, with vinegar, mustard, soy sauce, and sauerkraut. I still dislike the taste and texture but I persevere.

What kind of food is she brought up on? To compare something to spit .
  • @BicheTordue
it's the first video I found on nato where the taste is described, it definitely make me want to try even more now
  • It looks really yummy to me. I love sticky things. This was definitely the most detailed description of the taste and texture out of all the videos. Thanks for doing this video.

Y’all are really mad that she said it tastes like spit. If it smells like chicken feces and tastes like spit to her then so be it. Get over it, people don’t HAVE to like this. She gave a honest review of what the experience was FOR HER.
